Default ? for those running Stage 3 Suspension

I called the dealer today to get my car aligned and a new tire for the car and he recommendeed that I go to Speedware Motor Sports for them to balance the car.Front L to Rear R and so on. Is this normal for the stage three Suspension and why didn't mopar suggest this in the beginning. Or is this just common knowledge. Dont want to sound like a newbe but curious. Have an appointment on wed. In Redmond @ 10: if any one wants to come and hangout. Laters

I have no idea what that means but I know my dealer did not suggest it and I don't think he did it. He aligned and set all to spec but no mention of "balance".

I will get my Stage-3's in a couple of days and I am looking for a place to get the alignment. How much was it? did they do good work? Oh, and what was your drop? and did you need the camber bolts?

Thanks

It shouldve been done when the new suspension was put on. BTW Les Scwab can do it. No need to drive down to Redmond. Theres one on state st in marysville.

In answer to the original question; It's commonly called "corner weighting" and involves adjusting the height of the suspension to move weight to different corners. Usually takes a special alignment shop to do it. On my Stage 3 it was $50 to check the corner weight or $150 to adjust it. I was lucky, at the lowest stops on all 4 coilovers my balance was 50.2%, at the high end of acceptable specs. Since I don't Autocross the 50.2% is good enough for me.

Any time you change the height you change corner weight AND alignment. The weight only changes diagonally; i.e. if you lower the left front the right rear loses weight and the left front gains it.

If you are going to corner weight the car do it before you do an alignment.

fast40 if you have me install the suspension, i can get the alignment close just by looking at it and then we can drive it to redmond that day, (15minutes from my house) and have them align, it as far as corner balancing the car, that is what this gentlemen is speaking about, you will be happier if you just have it all set to a certain ride height unless you are an all out racer, corner balancing can sometimes make the wheel gaps uneven and other cosmetic stuff but racers dont care about that they care about perfect balance on the track. PM me if you are planning on having me do the install so we can setup a date/time, thanks!

IN10SE, thanks for the offer of the great rate for install. I have decided to do the install myself and have the alignment done. I was hoping to find a shop that could turnkey the whole thing at a good rate as that would have been worth it to me.

Thanks again, and I'll let anyone needing SRT work know your out there.

Sorry it took so long to get back on. As for the corner weighting of the car I am not overly concerened with. If it helps out on the occasional twistys then I am happy. As for les schwab that is who I originally took it to and am going to be more than happy to drive down to Redmond for them to take a look at it. As for the gentlmen in cali thankyou for the specs that may end up being very helpful once I get down to the shop. If any one has the original spec sheet that was shipped with the stage three I would be very thankful for a copy. Please PM or Post. Thank you all again.

fast40 thats fine. speedware is a great place to have the install done, if you end up needing help or find you cannot do the install your self let me know and i will come out and help or you can bring it to me, the rear suspension is kind of a bitch to put together but i honor your willingness to do it yourself thats the only way you can learn. i will have my own shop within two years for all you guys to come check out. and im even considering opening it up in a spot where we can have an autoX course, to be used for drifting events and go kart racing also and even pocket bike sales. as well. i will post on here and become a supporting vendor at that time. ttyl

Fast40, I have it droped as low as the stoppers will allow. I want to say it is like 1.5" maybe more but enough to make a difference.

Default Ride Height on Stage 3

I've had Stage 3 since last October.

Thing to watch. RIDE HEIGHT

After setting car's height to approx 14" from center of wheel to top of fender lip roll the car back & forth to let it settle and recheck it.

A month or two later or when you think of It, recheck the 14" center of wheel to lip height.

My car stopped settling after 2 months.

It makes the car handle well and It'll bump the shit of your passengers.
