This was from the ride today here in Oregon with the Evo group, great bunch of guys. Disturbed sent me the pics.
Somehow he crossed the road, went up on the hill a bit, missed the telephone pole and ended up on some rocks. I guess he was towed back even though he drove the car out of the ditch after they got him off the rocks.
Hopfully, Lunk will tell us about how he can fly and pass other cars at the same time.
No matter what I bet he was pissed off. Oh and don't forget embarressed b/c he wrecked trying to show off. But hey I guess that is what insurence is for.

thats kinda crazy, but hay- if youre gonna screw around and get crazy, you might as well do it with scores of friends around to help you out if something goes wrong.
Well I am definately not suprised, that last meet we had with the evos was pretty damn insane and I was pretty shocked no one wrapped their car around a tree then. Twisties plus wet roads plus trying to show off in front of your fiends = car in ditch.

Yeah some how he made it through that left side of the telephone pole. It was a pretty fun drive other than the gravel crap on the roads. We saw sunshine, rain, pouring down rain, hail, and snow on the way back home.
I have pictures and some video of the crash as well. I wasn't there on the scene when it occured. I arrived about 5 minutes after the crash.
To give you some idea of what actualy happened...
I was Car #6 of #51. We had gotten going after a stop about 10 minutes earlier. This guy who crashed was like #3 and #4 was within sight of him when he crashed. It took me 5+ minutes to arrive at the scene after the crash had occured. Remember, I'm only 2 cars back in the line from them. People say I drive crazy and I was 5 minutes back from them, 10 minutes after leaving our last stop.
Anyway, Car #3 said he was going 110 through a 25 MPH sequence of level switchbacks when he caught air for some unknown reason. When he settled back down on the tarmac, the car reacted odd and sent him off towards the side of the road directly at the telephone/power pole. He had enough time to crank the wheel so he avoided the pole completely to the left, but ended up being 2-point-high-centered on a combination of a rock the size of a basicaly a wheel and two opposite sides of the ditch.
After rocking the car back and forth and shifting the weight to the sides of the ditch, they dislodged the large rock and after rocking it some more the car ended up shifting and settling in the ditch and the guy was able to drive it out of the ditch and across the street to await the towtruck.
We mounted up after we spent 30 minutes gawking at the accident and taking pictures. By then the remainder of group had arrived. The guy who crashed was in good spirits and was taking it all in stride. Cars #1 and #2 had absolutely no idea the crash had even occured and were waiting for us 40 miles down the road.

There were 51 cars reported to be at the meet. I'd say the breakdown was like this. Let me stress the word "like". I didn't get real counts.
25 Mitsubishis (20 Evos and 5 N/A Lancers)
18 Subarus (8 STIs and 10 WRXs)
5 SRTs
1 Audi
1 Datsun
1 Corvette

"Lunk's Airborne Adventures"
I was in the lead group of 6 cars when we left Portland. We left the initial gathering spot in Portland in 3 groups. Group 1 - 15 to 20 MPH over, Group 2 - 5-10 MPH over and Group 3 Speed Limit, at least that was what the plan was that was stated at the gathering point. Shortly after getting on the freeway my group of 6, I was #4 or #5 through most of it, was doing in excesss of 90 in a 55 with peaks hitting 130ish as we came out of populated areas and clear stretches of 4 lane road.
I was playing with a yellow SRT from Seattle and we were making good time down a hill but I noticed he was holding back. So I shifted to 4th and went to pass him on the right. He was doing around 110 or so and I was doing at least 125-130 when a hundered or so feet ahead of me I see a dip and a rise. I knew I was going to be airborne, no questions asked so I dedicated myself to it. We both ended up airborne with him launching slightly before me. At the start of my jump my nose was at his rear door. By the time I landed from the jump his nose was at my rear door. We must have been air borne for a good 15-20 feet and probaly raised a foot or so off the ground. My car shifted in air about a foot to the right and when a came down I hit hard, bounced one small little hop which produced an "eerp" from the tires and the car settled down and got back on line and into business. The yellow SRT next to me didn't have as much touble when he landed and was able to basicaly maintain his course with no alterations.
We proceeded to the next break area changed men. I settled down with the yellow SRT keeping pace. When we got out of our cars at the next stop we exchanged quite animated stories with those around us.
About a minute later is when the cop pulled up...
He gets out and asks "Where's the driver of the Yellow Dodge who was racing". Guy from Seattle speaks up because he has little or no option. He has the most obvious car in our group of 6. Trooper takes the guys liscense and says, "OK, who was driving the silver car" and I say nothing, yellow SRT-4 says nothing and the Silver Evo says nothing. He says, "Right" and heads back to his cruiser. Runs his plate and license and comes back and yellow SRT-4 starts to explain that he wasn't racing and the trooper stops him and says "Save it. Just keep it tame boys. I don't want to see any of you guys die out here." hands back the license and walks back to his cruiser. He was a cool guy, kinda chuckled as he said "Save it". Coolest Trooper I've met in a long time.
