ok so i thought tonight i would try to install teh BOV myself without any help from minicuda. well i got the first 2 bolts off no problem, had a hell of a time trying to get teh 3rd one off. it was getting dark and i have no shop light so i thought i would go ahead and put the thing back together and wait till i got help. i was trying to get the bolts back in and dropped one, then i thought ok i will put the next one in then try to find the other, dropped that one to. problem in i can't find either and my baby is stuck in the drive way for the night. so where could they have fallen, they did not go all the way threw
look where the sway bar meets up with the lower sub frame that is where they always land. and it will take a pen magnet to get them out, fingers dont fit to well.
anyone off tomarrow and planning on being in albany that have experiance putting in a BOV, more then willing to pay gas money. i would just rather finish putting the thing in instead of puting it back together stock and waiting since i already have the batt, and air intake out.
if you have the bolts for the blue gone silver plate, theyre longer and you could install your bov conversion kit. the only mystery to remain would be the location of the stock bolts which would cease being so important. i figure you received the longer bolts with the plate formerly known as blue from bacardi.
you will have to be extra careful on this one though.
yes i did get teh bolts, i was really worried about the stock bolts causeing some issues where ever they landed, but it seems that most folks think if they are not needed then leave them where they are. my only problem now is getting the 3rd bolt out, i'm not a small guy and getting my hands in there is near imposible. any secrets?
the only thing i can say is that i usually go from the passenger side reaching under the turbo with the left hand/arm. what really helped the last time i did this was ptperf using a long screwdriver to poke the wrench onto the bolt so that i could turn it. helps a ton since coordination hardly plays a role in getting the wrench on there. if you have an extra person to at least do that then you will be much better off.
ok good news, after coming home from work i got the third bolt off in about 10 minutes, i now have everything put back together and 2 of teh bolts are tightened, i'm having a hard time tightning the 3rd bolt teh bov stickes out to far that teh wrench is blocked by the oil line for teh turbo, so my question now is, is it pretty easy to remove teh iol line, i mean i see it only has 1 bolt, is it pretty staight forward, i mean i'm not going to have to worry about bleeding it like a brake line or anything ? am i
ps my hands and arms have all the skin scraped off, hope its worth it
This thread brings back memories. I lost my 10mm socket wrench doing this install and did not find it until 8 months later when I had my DP installed and the guy asked if i lost a wrench and I said yes and he showed it to me. Yes my hands were scrapped all to hell as well. You just need a socket wrench/patience/ and time to get it right. I would not remove the oil line though. Just my 2 cents..

well i finally won, i beat this thing. feels good to have done it by myself (although the suport help i got on here was priceless) i used a socket extention to move teh oil line just enough to get the socket on, hands hurt like hell, look like hell too.
i love teh sound at full throttle, but the half throttle blow off is annoying, again thanks to all for the help.
Once you get stage one, two, or three it will sound alot better. I could not stand to sound of mine when I first installed it. it would blow off and keep blowing. Once you get a stage upgrade it will be just like a regular blow off valve (per say).
LOL, I laugh at this cause the things you guys have found while working on your car. I was tighting up my i/c a little while ago and when I took out the front air dam, a little car fell out, to this day, I still wonder how the hell it got in there.
