Default The SRT is sold

So my black 04 SRT-4 is officially sold. Have to say part of me will miss that car, actaully I already do. But my sore ass, ears and want of more creature comforts in a daily driver finally convinced me to move on. But, through owning an SRT-4 I have gained a lot of respect for MOPAR and the pocket rockets they have a long history of building. So I have decided to start looking for a an older Dodge/Chrylser turbo 4cyl to buy a fun track/project car. I think they made the Laser in a AWD 4cyl turbo variant just like the eclipse for a while...can anyone confirm that? What other suggestions might you folks be able to come up with for initial investment of 3500 or less?

Laser/Eclipse/Talon are not turbo dodges. They're Mitsubishi's. If you want an older turbo dodge that's the roots of the Neon's power then you want an EEK (Every Extended K-Car. visit http://www.allpar.com/fwd.html to learn more.) Basically if it doesn't have a 2.2L or 2.5L engine it's not an EEK.

There is one of those turbo caravans that run up at mission raceway park in canada. I have seen it go 13's, its prety funny. He could also get "the original srt 4" if you can find one. The dodge sprint or spirit? Cant remember which one is it.

dcx did have a huge part in creating the dsm. The 2.4 that you see in the neons is a derivitive of the 420a which was in many of the 2g eclipses. The 4g63 is different than the 420a but they are made with some very similar designs, by the same people. Go with a dsm.

yeah good choice...

Good luck getting one in any good condition, getting parts for it for cheap, and or any any other obstacle you can thing of. The biggest thing is that you want to make a project/track car. You dont want a HEADACHE...get something with a strong aftermarket so you aren't trying to find rare parts of have to make everything.

Sorry to see the SRT go man!! I will suggest the one thing no one has yet.......a neon. A first gen 2 door be it srt4 powered or NA powered is a inexpensive and well backed choice as every part you can image is produced. They sell for $500-$3000 all the time. They weight even less than the SRT4 and you can find some ACR versions or use ACR hardware on a non ACR to help it handle better. There is a red neon that raced SCCA up at Page Ranking that straight smoked a SRT4 and hung with STI's much better than i thought it would.

1st gen + 2.4L N/A swap..low 13s.

You should hear one with cams in it. Listening to a Neon lope at idle is funny as hell.
