Ok, so those of you that dont know. What the SRT track experience is, do some thread searching on it.
So I went to Phoenix this past weekend to hang out with old friends and go to the SRT track experience...and despite the glowing reviews I have read...this imo was barely worth the 300 bucks i spent. If I hadnt got the chance to drive the Viper, it woulda been a total waste.
We started off in the class room with some basic common sense driving stuff, load transfer, apex, braking all that. From there we moved onto a small AutoX course where we drove the SRT-4, SRT-6 and Viper, all in 2nd gear...so 50-60MPH tops. A intructor drove with us and I got my 5min of one on one time...thats all we got the whole day.
Event 2, was essentailly a 0-60 acceleration test followed by a short slalom, this event we drove the Magnum, 300c and SRT-6 and imo was a snore fest. The final event was the road course, where we drove the Magnum, SRT-6 and Viper. This is where I got to take the Viper up to about 120...however about half of the participants there had no business turning the key in a Viper let alone driving one. Many of the people there drove as if going to pick the kids up at school, which slowed down the other half of us who wanted to push the vehicles a little to get an idea what they were really capable of. I have also come to the conclussion that asside from the Viper and SRT-4 the SRT line of cars performance is not that impressive to me. The SRT-6 allmost impressed me, but due to sloppy shifting and engine bogging at high RPM shifts I have to say it definately does not earn its 45k+ price tag.
The good thing I took from it, was getting to drive a car that is as close to a super car as I have ever driven, the Viper is worth every penny of it price tag.
