Default Something I've noticed

Since moving to WA, I've observed a large majority of people that would rather pay a shop to work on their car, instead of doing the work themselves. EX. Turbo kits, fmic, and other bolt-ons. Do you guys just not like doing the labor yourselves? This is just an open discussion for you to talk about what work you will do/vice what you'd pay someone to do...discuss...

Its only when it comes to the bigger jobs that others send there work out. Something like cams or gears or engine removal is not something that your novice car person will do. You have to remember if you screw up a small thing it could cost you a motor or something that cost just as much as the parts you just installed. A t-body is easy to do and an incorrect install will normally end with just a boost leak. Mess up a motor build and you can could be looking at another motor build as well as all the time to do it the second time around. Whats your time worth to have it done correct?

I only know a hand full of people who uses a shop in the NW instead of do-it-yourself people.

Correct on that. I've done everything on my car, tranny fuel, every upgrade or maintenance, I just did the brakes for the 1st time by myself a couple of weeks ago, but when the head and the motor rebuild come on, I'm taking that in.

I'd say a majority of us do our own work. Starting to run out of things that we haven't done outside a shop, lol. And even some of those that don't do their own work, cruise down and have us do it for them...

That's because I think you're observing the wrong people since your live in the sticks. Almost all the owners I know work on their own cars themselves. Anything too technical and challenging? Then we get together and have several people help out to get the job done. Been like this for nearly 3 years.

Are you speaking of SRT owners or just people in general. If its just people in general then I would say yes the majority take it to a shop instead of doing own work.

As for the SRT community I see the NW as the area of the forums that probably most the members do there own work or as a group. I find Florida, Cali, Texas, and others go to shops far more frequently then the NW.

i agree with whats being said i've done all my bolt on's not that they're that complicated but still i plan on doing most of my own work except for when it comes to electronics me =.... don't get that stuff... like john said tho like cams and gears and stuff like that i will take in too but i plan on doing my own fuel and turbo kit in the future and with the help that this forum provides i think everything should go pretty smoothly

Here are quite a few people who posted in this thread, helping a brotha out with a spring install.....
The NW has some really cool people who get together just like Ronin said.
