I'll be switchin jobs in the next 6-8 months just so I can afford an FHA loan and California's crazy real estate market has condos at $300,000! I remember when they were around $100-125K, yeah 20 years ago....lol
Anyway, any tips advice, whatever?
(I wrote alot more as I usually do, but I deleted it..lol)
The houses in the seattle area are more expensive than the portland area. Depending on where your job is located, i would say portland. You should really look into both places as both places are great places to live other then the seattle traffic and expensive housing lol. Good luck bro!
I've lived in both places. I just like Oregon a little better.
Of course I like a smaller kind of City. Washington
and Seattle/Tacoma areas are just too spread out
for my liking. I live in one of the smaller towns.....
I'll put it to you this way, when I want to drink and
party, I drive 25 minutes to get downtown, 15 minutes
to a good local bar. If I feel like driving some of the best
back roads EVER, I drive 10 minutes the other way
and I got the road to myself. If I want to go Skiing, I go
1 1/2 hours to Mt.Hood. If I want to hit the beach, I go
1 hour the other way.
Awe....Your car has pretty eye shadow.
Okay, maybe another reason:
PIR-Our very own racetrack.
Pat's Acres-Our very own outdoor kart track
The most strip clubs per capita than ANYWHERE in the US.(and you can drink...AND they can touch)

I live in Vancouver, a couple miles from Portland. The only problem I have with Oregon is the Income Tax. I paid Oregon just over $6000 in income taxes last year, and I dont even live there. I guess I have to pay to work. I work in the construction industry, so I have to follow the work around the NW, but most falls in Portland. Ya, Oregon doesnt have a sales tax, but there is no way I pay over $6000 in sales tax to washington thru the year. I think Oregon should get rid of the income tax, and add get a sales tax.
FWIW, I am working on a 22 story condo building in downtown Portland right now, where the cost of them will be in the $10,000 per square foot price range. If you take bobross suggestion about living on the outskirts of Portland, you should be able to find some cheaper housing.
both seattle and portland are in great area's. you are an hour from everything, beachs, skiing, desert climates, rivers, ect. you can be laying on the beach and go snow skiing in the same day
I know Seattle is more expensive than Portland and Vancouver, WA.
If a single mother that works at a hair salon and gets help from the state can afford a house.... This girl I knew in the PDX area did just that and I have seen the house prices in Seattle.
I know I can do it without the kids and without the help -
Not sure that is possible here, plus I kinda want a change of scenery.
Kent isn't far from Seattle Metro, which makes short trips to the strip easier than it is currently and I haven't heard anybody complain about track conditions, how could you at 150ft above sea level?
I don't know it sounds okay to me, I can still scream WESTSIDE! and just use my umbrella more often.
I want to turn the page a bit and I have basically two choices I feel -
Move somewhere else on the West Coast or Move out of the country. I can't do the Midwest or Deep South, I'd kill somebody. I always say that, I assume its true and don't want to test that theory and way too many FAT WOMEN!
I don't like snow, so my choices are limited.
Wes, trust me I wanna stay! I can't afford $400,000 homes!
California Speedway stinks!
Famoso is almost too far and not open often enough, its MAY for heaven's sake!
If I am never going to get married and have kids and all that nonsense, then I want to be able to race my car twice a week, not cost me a fortune and be able to fly out of a major airport when the townies get on my nerves.
Seems I can do that best out of Seattle...
In all likely hood, I am blowing smoke and it won't happen.
I sure hope so lol, Prices out here are getting lowered and are predicted to get even lower still, I know you can find 3 bedroom houses out here towards Moorpark for 300k, some are a little old but still nice....
No S/C for the tC, for now just wheels, springs, and tint...
Maybe a turbo down the line if I come across some money to waste.
I know there was another thread here or over on the other forum that discussed the neighborhoods around Seattle and what areas were cheap/ghetto and cheap/nice, depending on what you want. It should be around here somewhere...

You forgot the local liguor store in another store deal. That's only 20 minutes away.... opps I mean 60 minutes.

Remember that Portland is more industry the Seattle. Its a hard choice but if I didn't have family in the Seattle area I would be on the border of Oregon and Washington. Not sure which side I would live on but I really like that area. The only real problem would be the track and the flooding.
