Truely I read an article that said like 70% of the people aressted for DUI are actually pulled over for something entirely different. Burnt out headlight, not stopping etc.

Police also do this lame stuff to repeat criminals. Like lets say they know you have a suspended license they cant run your name or pull you over just for that. So they pull you over for license plate light being out. Even if it isnt. So what you fight the ticket, most of the time they will let you off with a warning but write you up for NO License then impound. Many of these stupid things are ways(loop holes) for the cops to catch bigger fish. Thats why they can let you off with a warning. I mean imagine a cop saying hey sir/miss I'm going to let you off with a warning this time for killing your cheating partner but dont let it happen again.

Very true in the aspect that many DUI's and even felony warrants come from burnt out lights or no signal.

Also, to the other guy, he is doing his job. To all the people that say why not go solve a murder (or some similar comment) that's not technically his job. If he is a traffic enforcement officer then he is doing his job and should not be out solving murders or finding rapists.

To clear one thing up with what you said Zane, if an officer has knowledge that the person he is witnessing drive a vehicle is suspended (either through past contact with that person, or a DOL return) that person can be pulled over for that and that alone.

45 in a 30?? Oohhhhh noooooo people are going to die lol

isn't a 30mph street like half suburban, half commercial? the only 30mph streets i've ever seen had neighborhoods in or close around.

if it was partly a neighborhood, how is doing 45 not a big deal?

i got pulled over for not signaling soon enough at a light at 3 in the morning. i was alone on the road for the longest time, doing the speed limit exactly, when a cop pulled out to follow me and turned on his lights. i got a 'turn on your signal sooner' warning (the one time i don't signal soon enough, lol) and a warning about my exhaust (single tip). i asked the cop what the law and restrictions were - he said anything modified can be given a ticket due to a recent law that was passed. can anybody clarify this for me?

why even post. you have nothing good to say. nothing backed up by any facts and it is merely an uneducated opinion that is wrong in evey case.

your attitude also determines the outcome.

That is not fishing... Fishing is when a cop sees a know crack dealer and pulls him over for that using the excuse of a tail light. I personally thing that that is great police work, however here in the peoples republic of washington it is a violation of you civil rights. If that happens the criminal will walk no matter what they find. This is the only state that does not allow pre-text stops.

Do you know all of the circumstances. This guy could be a murder suspect and they found that out when they ran his name. Glad it happened if that is the case.
