Default shooting for a 12. pac raceways wed 6/30

im going to be on zane's drag radials and might even go for some higher octane gas. we'll see if the 6 gallons i put in today (on blinking gas light) are gone by then. now that shouldnt be a problem, no... not the way i drive!

We can add two gallons of Xylene to the tank you have now and you'll have less then 1/4 tank race gas on race day. Plus be running on race gas next two days.

Good luck to you. I'll see ya there. BTW...I'm the guy in the white 92 Talon that you raced a few weeks ago. That was the best race of the night by far. I'd try to run, but the tranny is about ready to give up the ghost.

JR did u put in your stg 2 toys yet? if not then your not gonna gain anything from running race gas. its a common misconception. you should use the lowest octane possible without getting detonatoin. look at me im running nitrous and 19psi on pumpgas. no detontation and no knock. once i advance the timing though then i will run race gas when i squeeze because i also changed my nitrous jets to a 105 shot

Gone mustang hunting see ya in 11 seconds:P

yeh. race gas = teh suck. i have nothing good to report i didnt even make it to my previous best time. i was able to trap at 106.3 and i had only one sub 2 sec 60' time. the only idea i have is to check for boost leaks and use regular gas.

9d2awd was helping me out with the tires & launching, but i wasnt able to nail it in the few runs i got after his help.

So you got tires on OK?

Do you you have a tire pump with gauge we can check for leaks.

Running race gas will allow you to increse the boost safely.

yeah, the wheels fine.
i kinda built the boost leak check tool, but could not find the correct size hose, so it hasnt been done quite yet. i think it will work, tho if i clamp it to the turbo inlet. ive got a compressor here for once the contraption is ready. another concern i had was over pressurising it. didnt want to fill up the system while my guage goes nutz without me even knowing it.

I can see your concerns with using a compresser. We always used a bike tire pump with gauge you pump it up and see if pressure holds. You can also watch your boost gauge. We always hooked straight to the turbo, just take off the ribbed rubber thing( No Pun intended).

Drag radials can be tough to get right. I don't think those 205/40-17s are going to do you any good though. There's just not enough sidewall to help. If you can get some 225/45s, you'll notice much better performance out of the hole, but your gearing is going to be a little off because they will be about 6/10ths of an inch taller... 225/50-15s would be perfect. The effective gearing will be close to the same, but you'll be able to control the launches more and be more aggressive. There are plenty of aftermarket 15s that will fit over the brakes too. You will get to the 12s soon. I think the car has enough to do it. Just needs a little traction.

j.r. ~ why no call for this one? my car got hit, so when I get the rental we will have to go. oh yeah, we'll get you into the 12's easy when we put the other half of your motor in.

I just built my vacuum checker yesterday, not sure how you guys are doing it but it works pretty well IMHO.

Just go to home depot in the PCV plumbing section, get a coupling that fits over your turbo, buy an end cap for the other end, go find an old bike tire or anything with a schiedner (sp?) valve, drill a hole in the cap, stick that through and epoxy if you feel you need it.

Used compressed air, much easier Have a friend hold the throttle down and watch the boost gauge, i wouldnt go over 20.

Local tire shop could hook you up with a new valve stem/core for a buck or two. When testing for leaks, I would just eliminate an old cracked valve stem/schrader valve as a culprit
