^^I'm keeping this forever.
Quick note on the weekend: I found a couple more seconds out there and finished race #2 in 7th directly behind a BP Viper, some SPM/GT2/PCA1 911 Porsches and a GT2 Panoz GTS. I was only 2.2 seconds behind the B Prepared Viper. He was substantially faster in a straightline but was not very efficient on the brakes so I was able to suck him in at 2 and 3a and 8. Im still not comfortable enough to hold WOT up the hill in 7 and worse yet in 1, and there is still ALOT of overhead in all the corners. I'm certain I can hold an extra 10mph more speed in 2. I hadn't got the rear tires to feel loose until the end of the session and thus I still had tires to play with as well. I really had fun beating the 450HP Shelby Cobra and the RS America. Both were incredibly quick. but the torque the SRT put down was uncatchable on the straights simple because my exit was really good in 8 and 3b. I started to up my game in the back section too the 5a-b 6 complex I was no longer having to down shift to third which made the run up the hill insanely quick and i was running out of track right before braking in 8 unless I lifted a bit before turn in for 7. I know the correct line thru there would have improved all that but i really like the bump at apex of 7 that kinda punts you a couple lanes over and set you up for a great look to kill people on the inside of 8. Mind you that only works if there is people to pass in 8. and by the time I had reminded myself to get back to the correct line i was enjoying myself way too much. Had a couple close calls. In the first qualifying session, I blew braking in 2a and had to use the runoff road, there is a stop sign at reentry which I stopped at and waited for turn 4 workers to wave me on. I got the wave and proceeded to reenter and get back up to speed. Just as I hit the racing surface a GT1 corvette blew by me at a buck 20 or so missed passenger mirror by about an inch or so . Talk about a pucker factor. I think I still have a MOMO logo on my butt cheeks from that one. The GT1 driver was glad I was holding track left and didnt jump right back in line. The other ohshit moment came in traffic i was lapping a bunch of spec miatas.. well it wasnt bad but we went 4 wide into 5a/b 6. not alot of room there for 4 cars. I think the cars track right were likely 2 wheels off. I tried to give room but I was in lane 2 at the time with no real place to go so I held my line behind the viper and took em up the hill. Those spec miata drivers get really pissy about faster cars messing up thier races.
All in all it was a great weekend and I thank you ALL that showed up. It was noted by all that the Northwest SRT4 owners are a great bunch of helpful and ambitious people! I can't wait to get you all out for the PDX/HPDE days in July.
