Default p 0300 help please

ok so this morning i was driving to work and my car falls on its face, i figured it was low on gas since the light had been blinking for a few days. so i have my wife bring me some gas at work and start it it dies i start it again and it runs fine, i get in it to go to lunch and as im driving it starts in again, with the car driving it hessitates and has no power after about 1500 rpms, out of gear it revs fine. while i was driving it also threw code p 0300. so would running out of gas cause the car to have multi cylinder misfires? whats wrong with my car?

i already reset the comp and cleared the code but its still bogging down while i drive it

Yeah if you ran it out of gas it could have this code. Also you probably had some air in the fuel lines causing the bogg. How far/long have you drove it since you ran out of fuel and have you gone to the gas station and filled up? If you are running real low on fuel then each time you accelerate you will uncover the fuel pickup causing it to suck air.

I agree. Air in the lines. I ran out of gas once and the car ran like crap for a few days. Did the same thing when I installed my fuel pump.

i was told to "purge" at the fuel rail. using what i think is a fuel return connection, did that a couple of time and i could hear the car start running better right away

It wont hurt anything to press the shrader valve. I don't know why he responded like that.

Thumbs up

OK now I'm confused. Do you spell shrader/schrader with or without a "C".

Well I'm just thinking...spraying fuel at 58psi around a running engine can't be good, that's all.

Schrader has a 'C' in it.

I used to do that all the time after fuel pump installs in Caravans. They would trap air in the lines and it would take a good minute of bleeding it into a shop bucket. No worries about it getting on the motor or into a rag, trust me the motor see much worse then a little fuel.
