Default Owned: Cobalt SS and Redline! ! ! !

Coming home from Park Place Ltd. in Bellevue about 1:45 pm S. I-5. I saw a SS in my rear view pulling up on me pretty hard. He got next to me and it was a young guy with a really hot chick in the passenger seat. As we were passing by the city center in to the tunnel/overpass he gave me the " wanna race nod." We were doing 65 dropped it into 3rd after he tried to pull away and there was just no comp as I walked on him. By the time we hit 120 I had 7 cars on him. The Redline was coming out of the capital auto mall tonight around 7:30. Had the dealer stickers still on it. He decided to punch the gas and try to get away from me. Ohhhhh how sad. I THOUGHT they were supposed to be supercharged. Maybe the charger only works in reverse. HAPPY GM HUNTING GUYS.

Are you stock?

Those Redline are quick Just about as quick as a stock SRT, accually I know Redlines that have beat SRT's in some street races. They are dynoing from 200 HP to 215 stock .....

BTW you said it was brand new, those may have a break in setting like some other cars do, and after so many miles it lets you have all the power

Just a guess ......

I like the Redlines alot, they are cool cars ......

The break in period is true to my knowloedge, only after 1000 miles will the Supercharger be able to run at full boost. But umm no your wrong, the Redline has no chance against us..... cobalt has more of a chance.

I saw a Cobalt SS a couple days ago in Everett. I thought it actually looked fairly sharp. It wouldn't take too much to make it look pretty cool IMO.

The redline is no where near as fast as the srt4, i test drove a few different ones before i bought and its night and day. It is still pretty quick though..

Ron I would check your numbers, the Cobalt SS and the Redline I believe were rated in the low 15's to high 14's in 1/4 drags. 0 to 60 they might be close but stock to stock they should be no competition what so ever for the Neon. With that applied supercharger on that motor rumor is there is very little expandibility on pulley upgrades due to the max efficiency is almost used up in stock form. I am sure some guys will go crazy and a few of us will get pwned by one, but all in all, yeah there fast, and they have instant boost, but it takes horsepower to make horsepower...unlike a turbo....we are just using spent exhaust gases to power our snail.

Don't underestimate these cars MY good friend has one, and I spend alot of time chatting with red line owners ... I accually know alot about these cars, I'm really into the American brotherhood thing ..... be it a dodge, cheby, blue oval ... they are on our side by my book

Given an even race do I think a stock Red line can take an SRT, no I don't .... but out of the box they do handle a bit better than our cars do, and psi-fi is working on a pully upgrade that is supposed to give then Massive more power, and If you didn't know that super charger is running on the botom of it's capability, that is the V6 supercharger in those cars

video of Red Line on the dyno 200HP

I'm not saying their bad cars in the least. The Ion has some good looks and the cobalt has some good potential. But I was disappointed in their stock form.
I was running my MBC and WGA. (Boost spike at 14psi drop off at 12) I still have to instal my S1 later today and I ordered the needs wings cut out and a base water injection kit. So I have a while until a cobalt or redline will give me much comp. As for now I have the bragging rights. But I'm sure there's someone out there that will make me eat my words soon enough.

In preliminary road tests, the Redline schooled our SRT's in the road course, just for the fact, they spent some good time and engineering on the suspension on that car. I like the Redline and know a fair amount about the car also. I was recently told or heard that that supercharger (Roots type blower) was almost at it's max efficiency range already and pulley upgrades couldn't be taken over 13 PSI or so due to size and cooling efficiency. I don't know but I would figure a water or alky injection kit could cool things down, but I think the car is awesome, and I get excited when I see a redline just for the fact I have only seen one. When you say the supercharger is off the v6 are you referring to the chargers off of the Pontiac SSEI or whatever that big car is?

probably referring to the pontiac GTP supercharged FWD V6 with unequal length driveshafts and an auto transmission. maximum torque steer! oh yeah someone should tell pontiac that when you put a "P" at the end of a cars name that stands for Prototype *sigh*

Ya, it is off the Pontiac V6, Psi-fi has a pully kit they are wraping up loose ends on and it is said they are getting 18psi
