Default Omg Broken!

Wheel studs.... wtf is up with them? Anyone else having this problem? We haven’t been cross threading the lugs or anything but they keep breaking... just sheering off! I think we have gone through like 8 studs in 2 days. Anyone know if someone makes some hardened steel or cryo treated or whatever studs? Because this is fuckin ridiculous! Need to get that guy from dirty jobs to get me some ford bolts. Bigger Stronger Bolts!

i was having the same problem till I started to use a little anti-sieze on the studs. I havent broke a stud in over 10 month or so. Just lower the torque rate to around 90 ft/lbs when you use the antisieze. the antisieze throws off the torque readings, that is why you lower the setting.

arp makes a set for us they are longer and require a good press to get em in. I hear stock viper studs work.

Been there done that, i just don't think the stock wheel studs like heat very much. Another thing is that the ones we broke on our cars are the same tuner lug nuts from the shop, maybe they like to melt on our stock studs, oh well...

then why did they start to break in the first place? we broke 2 on stock lugs

anyways, i need to find out which are stronger, the arp studs or viper studs (odds are viper studs are EXACTLY the same as ours)

yup, found the ARP's... 200k psi and damn those are long. Going to have PRE see if the can order them in for me. Good times. In the meantime, no torqueing them when they are too hot to touch! I think thats why we broke the first 2

Talking

100 ft lbs of torque and anti seize no problems yet. Have you had your torque wrench calibrated lately. They will lose there torque precision if not taken care of.
