Default Oil leak .. has anyone seen this happen?

I have been seeing a small amount of oil on my garage floor for a couple weeks now and finally got the time to check it out ...

It looks like the lower mount put a small crack in the oil pan ...

You can definately see where the mount has whacked the pan pretty hard ... there is a small amount of aluminum on the black painted steel portion of the mount

I am guessing it is from hopping during launch.

Anyone else seen this kind of damage? If so what did you do to fix it? at the moment I am tempted to tell the dealer to replace it. Whoever the heck designed the oil pan to be sooo close to the dang mount on a car that has that much movement in the engine is a dumb arse. Almost as dumb as me prolly.

get some motor mount inserts there only like 25$ and they will keep the motor from shaking so violently.

I have some ... The top is in but I stupidly didn't install the bottom yet ... that still doesn't fix the oil leak ... I am just curious if there is any precedents for this or if anyone else has seen it either ... Everyone else is prolly alot smarter than me and did that before anything else .. doh

Yes, I have seen and heard of this happening. Fix or replace oil pan. Get some motor mounts of some kind if you are determined to launch so hard you get wheel hop.

from your join date it looks like you have a 05, my 03 did this and I took it in and they fixed the oil pan under warrenty, i'd try that fist, and when/if they replace the oil pan deffently get some mm's this will be a problem again if you don't fix the movment of the engine.

it isn't dripping very much at all ... just a few drops on the garage floor each day but it was noticable when I walked into the garage when car wasn't parked in there. I can't see the crack very well. The mount is obscuring it. I cleaned the oil all of the bottom of the oil pan and found what looked like it was it ... started the car and let it idle just sitting level in the grage then raised the car again and it was coming from right in that area. There was no oil above it and only a little below it. Think I will take a picture or 2 when the dealer pulls the pan off.

Of course I insist on launching hard ... is there another way?

Just glad I am not the only one ... was thinking I might be crazy or something there for a few ... well now just less crazy hehe ... Thanks for the tip on the insert .. I will get off my lazy arse and install it once they replace the pan.

dealer issues!

I though they had corrected it with smaller bolts. Do your bolts protrued from the mount? The 04 i have seen dont have it protruding.

Thanks for the input all ... both of my mine are '04 ... It was the rounded portion of the mount itself that whacked the pan not a bolt head or thread
I will snap a pic and post it up.

This had happend in my car but no hole. When you put the upper mount in and not the bottom, the bottom mount takes all the movement from the top unit now being more rigid. Get the pan replaced and get that bottom insert in.
