I haven't used a front plate in over 6 years. I have been pulled over at least a dozen times but never been issued a ticket. I don't plan on ever putting a plate on the front of my car no matter what the law is.

Everybody on here should go to that site and print out some copies of the initiative to gather signatures. All it takes is taking the thing to work and leaving it in a break room or something. Lets see if we can't get 50 each and get rid of these dumb front plates (that I don't have on my car anyways). I'm gonna print extra to take down to the drag strip too.

Currently getting ready to pay my $101 ticket from a City of Kent police whore now. The ticket is for more but no front plate is $101. First time i have been ticketed for it in over 10 years. It is not something cops will pull you over for but if your getting a ticket they use it to make more money, just like he did on me.

The front plate is a fix-it-ticket. It just extortion..doesn't affect your driving record.

Lots of times you can just stick the plate on with chewing gum, take a pic, show the judge, get it dismissed, take the plate off and go on your way.

Hope you guys in WA can get this accomplished, good luck!! We have been trying to get rid of this and be able to use radar detectors in VA but the bills always fail during HOR/legislative meetings.

I hate the front plate. It is ugly and useless. But, SRT-4's draw more attention than a typical car, so I leave the stupid thing on.

Buyer beware Bro, I have on good word that this year not having the proper running gear on your vehicle is considered a moving violoation and will be recorded so with DMV. My source is sound, so If anyone else has a friend in the WaSt. DMV hit them up. I would like to see if this is so... There was a bunch of new laws that went into effect as riders that were not even discussed to the open public, and there was a handful that when they went to the new scheduled increase on fines, moved them to a different bracket called "Moving Violations" thus they could extort more money from you on a non-hanous crime. You can thank Tim I. for these new ways of extorting your money. Tim I. forced your legislature to become more deceitful. Please prove me wrong.

2 years without a front plate and no tickets. i think it's rediculous, if it had any added benifit it would be manditory in all states, not just a select few. it's definatly an eyesore to the front of the car whether it's a neon, corvette, or whatever. it's staying under the rear floormat. this is almost as stupid as not being able to tint your front windows to any extent in the state of new jersey.

The police will cite how many crimes were solved because the witness saw the front plate or in some cases, it was caught on video, the front plate fell off and was left at the scene of the crime or some other benefit of the duplicity of the tags. What they don't flaunt is that the front plate is a primary LIDAR target because it is more reflective than the headlamps. The state patrol and local municipalities spent a lot of tax payer money on new LIDAR equipment for their officers and training them how to use them. They also take in a LOT of money from traffic enforcement, and the laser guns make the tickets a lot harder to dismiss due to equipment or 'tagging the wrong car'. Front plates increase the accuracy and range of the laser guns, so you can expect the police and local governments to fight the initiative if it makes it to the ballot.
In regards to the changing of the fee schedules and types, I may have to check with my lawyer and see what he says. I'm sure that if they indeed did change the category he's likely seen some cases and possibly fought it.
Now, the tint, I understand. It's a driver safety issue, and an officer safety issue as well. If you have 5% tint up front, 95% of the ambient light is being absorbed by the tint. At night, there's not alot of light to begin with. Sometimes I need to roll down my windows (with 20%) to make turns safely in really dark areas.

Why don't you just run the front plate? Or is that how the cool kids rock it these days?? If you get pulled over without a plate, you deserve a ticket, suck it up and realize that is what it takes to be cool!

Whatever...you just say that because you're bitter about the holes that the dealership drilled in your front bumper

They will have to prove in court that I dont have the proper running gear on my vehicle. As far as Tim I goes, he made the legislature responsible for the money they spend into the bottom less pit they call the general fund. Look at how many things have changed since they have passed the Tim I laws. Nothing but the state is getting how much less billions of dollars because of the tabs (just one example) being dropped down to reasonable prices. They said that if the money from the vehicle licences were to go away that the roads would be in total ruins and the local enforcement would have to lay off thousands of police and city workers. Did that happen? Nope only a few higher paid city/county workers lost there jobs and only a 2% reduction in the state wide police force (mostly reservists) were removed/retired from the police. And as if kent needed any more reasons to take your money, that police department has to be one of the most corrupt in the state. But we all have opinions.
