Default Need help finding a job!

Well I was just wondering if anyone else is out of a job and cant find one.
I moved back to the northwest in january and I havent found a job yet. I know they did all the layoffs the week I moved up here, but this is ridiculous. I have applied for at least 10 jobs a week and I dont even get a call back. I search Careerbuilder and Washington Worksource daily. I dont know what to do anymore. I have lost my car and all. I am to the point to where i am thinking of moving back to the south so i can have my job back.
Which I REALLY do not want to do. The only thing that has kept me up here is that my girlfriend found a job and was supporting both of us, but she lost her job a week ago. She is hopefully gonna get another job that she applied to almost a year ago with the port of seattle police. They finally called her back to go in and do the background check and all the other formalities.
Anyone that has met me know that I am pretty knowledgeable about cars and handy with a wrench. I would like to find work in the automotive field cause I was planning on going to an Autotech school up here when I moved and get a part time job to help pay the bills, but that hasnt worked out so well.
Anyone that knows someone that can give me a job in the tacoma area. I would greatly appreciate it. At this point I really dont care what kind of work it is as long as I am not on a ladder or up high cause I am deathly afraid of heights. I am posting my resume incase someone can help me.

What sites are you going to for job listings? I have seen quite a few "dispatch" type jobs listed on various City Gov't site, as well as on USAJOBS.GOV. Check that site out.

Medical and public safety are practically the only fields hiring right now, so you should at least be able to find a lot of opportunities.

Yeah you would think that because of the public safety and medical experience i could get a job, but they wont even called me back. The city of tacoma said they didnt want me. City of puyallup isnt hiring anyone right now. The city jobs dont want to hire me because i dont have "police" dispatching experiance(even though i have worked at a 911 center before within a metropolitian area with about 70,000 calls a year just for EMS alone.)The Fire/EMS are consolidated into one agency up here so they dont want to hire me cause i dont have fire experiance. I havent seen any openings for them lately anyway The trucking agencys dont want me cause I dont have the experience with the D.O.T. regulations. The hospitals wont even call me back for a medical receptionist or records clerk. I even applied at safeway, walmart, and homedepot and didnt get a call back.
I did find an opening with Waste Management, for a dispatching postion that I applied for eariler today. Dont know what the pay is and it is way up in seattle somewhere, but if it pays good enough it might be worth it. Hopefully they will call me.

Thanks for the replies.

Try usajobs.gov with your federal employment history, you have a heads up against the Joe off the street.
