Its happened twice now, when i go to start my car it clicks like the car is already started. I push the car and get it started drive home or where ever im going, and the car starts just fine later.
Funny thing is im able to start the car quite a few times before it does it again. Battery is not low got plenty of power. So just wondering what the problem could be... Pretty sure its my starter.
it makes just the clicking noise, and the car does not have to be HOT when doing it. Like today i drove the car for 5 minutes, and shut it off, the car sat turned off for 15 min i tried to start and no bueno. Im almost sure its the starter, but i just wanted to make sure its nothing else. Weird though cause i dont hear spinning, and it sounds like a strong click.

Try turning your flywheel a couple of teeth....than try starting it....if it starts....i would definetly change your starter....but check the teeth on the bendix drive.....if there are no "Gnarled" or broken teeth....you could of fucked you flywheel.....you said that when you push it it will start right?? I would guess its a shitty starter.....test it by hooking it to a hot 12VDC source....make sure it engages the drive.....if you remove it and take it to schucks or autozone, they'll hook it up to a hot if you dont know how.............good luck man!
I am going to say its a battery first off. Reason being is our starters are a gear reduction set up. They don't have a bendix to speak of its more of a throw arm that drives the gear engagement. There are a set of contacts that can wear out but I have never seen then wear out on the SRT4. Starter is very expensive to take a guess on, battery is much cheaper.
yes the car starts right up after i give it a push, im hoping its not the flywheel. I have had my lights on both time and the car was turned off, but i have not had any power issues with the car(as far as dead battery) ill take the battery to schwabs and have them test it. i think if it was a dead batt situation the power would fluxuate on the lights. but i dont get that...
I had a battery problem a few months ago where it would only hold 11 volts. it was enough to start the car, but had me worried on a couple of really cold mornings. I picked up a new battery and it has worked great ever since
so my battery failed the test. Got a new one in and we will see if i get the problem again!
Good to hear man!! Its always nice when its the little things

It is not so much the voltage as opposed to the cranking amps.....
Technically, the capacity of a battery to provide power and then still provide enough power to start the car is determined by it's 'Reserve Capacity'. CCA's are just a measure of how much current the battery can kick out at 0 degrees F under 30 secs of cranking. It's mostly marketing unless you live in Regina . That's especially so since we have such a low-compression motor.

Usable reserve capacity. This is the new standard for vehicle applications that need a battery that can still start the car and its not based on time till dead or minutes of use. This will make it so your car will start even with a low battery. I can not wait till we have the new Ion batteries for vehicles, you should never have to buy a battery for your car for the life of it and problably yourself. Why we are still using lead acid based units amazes me.
