Not that it was a government secret. But if Coy sends me a private message asking me what type of mouth wash best gets the taste of douche out I would respond to the private message so every forum member didnt have to waste the time opening a thread. Its just me (my .02)if someone really wants the answer I would think that would be the best route If someone want to make a big scene they make a new thread saying. "Coy wants to know how to get the douche taste out of his mouth"

And the last thing that many of you seem to over look is the fact that for some reason you think I looked at that post(or any post) and said he cant say that.... Its not the case 90% is other member reporting these posts/threads to the mods/admin so even though you may think its OK someone else doesn't.

Perhaps it had something to do with a site url(s) that you seem to use often such as in a sig or soemthing.

I responded via PM and was told it was because of a link to another site but he couldn't remember what the site was. The first PM I got said my sig was removed because I was not a vendor and if I wanted to promote my business that he could set me up as a vendor. Like I said, I own a restaurant. My sig was nothing about a restaurant nor could it help me if it was. I just find it interesting others are getting random action like this as well. Kinda like being frisked by the cops as soon as you walk out of your house in the morning.

I have LOL'ed at this thread. Most of you are not getting it. I spend a $100 a month, other $150 a month. If someone wants to push there "wares" then they have to be a vendor. I have no idea why greenie was called out for being a vendor (odd) but I do know that darksyde has been pushing admin for some time with his products. Allmotormike has been making a business of doing business through PM's for the last 3 or more years.

You can sell all your used parts or one off parts all day long here on the site, new or personally manufactured parts (repeated) will get the admins attention. You have 80 different businesses competing for your dollars for there product. Having one guy selling new parts hurts all 80 of us, your going to get someone's attention with over a 100 vendors (each vendor spot is good for 2 vendor sign on's) posting on the forums.

If you don't like, deal with it. I mean look at the blue room no one goes over there to buy anything nor any other SRT4 site. This site has to be protected from those that want to sell there goods with out the right to sell them.

That's all fine and dandy but I don't think he was promoting anything and neither was I. And yes, there are quite a few around here that do business via PM yet life goes on for them.

Well what did you have in your sig then? I mean if it was nothing and didn't involve something with cars then you should have been OK. If it was something about cars or supporting a non vendor here on the forums, duh. You can not do that.

so what if in my signature there is a picture of my car, and on that car is a web address in size 100000 font for a website of a non-vendor? Is my sig going to get deleted? If not, then why not, I'm promoting a non vendor arnt I?. Are we going to start having to blurr our pictures to not include emblems and what not.

The vendor system is a good theory. If someone is going to be peddling wears on the site they should have to pay. The problem I have is with the admin's comming down on people that are unaffiliated with anyone promoting products that are just 'good.'

Lets say that Brand A really sucks, it sucks balls, like fromunda infested, cheese balls.
Brand B really kicks ass, in fact, they don't suck balls at all.
Now brand A decides to become a vendor, because god knows they need all the advertising they can get to sell their stinky rotten garbage balls.
I buy one of brand B's products, I had one of brand A's.... I decide that everyone on the forums should know that Brand A sucks, ans Brand B kicks ass so I make a thread about it..... then the thread gets Ekool'd because brand B is not a vendor. So basically now everyone is going to have to suffer with brand A's crap because I can't speak about who is really better.

Brand B could become a vendor, but they have bigger fish to fry so they don't. They don't care about loosing a little prospective business.

The point is, people can't discuss openly what is good and what isn't because they are getting slapped with these ridiculous "you must be a vendor to say that" scenarios.

(this did happen to me once, then the VendorA in question decided that the srtforums were a waste of time and no longer support this place, in fact they are no longer a business)

^ I concur!

Also, the 'little guy' doing his one-off work, may not be able to afford to pay for a vendorship. Since Darksyde was mentioned, why should he be a vendor? He does one off powder coating, and doesn't mass produce them as far as I know. He does great work, but at such a small scale i don't think he should be forced to pay a vendorship fee. he is not making a business out of it, he is doing it in his spare time to hook up fellow forum members... I just don't like the fact that $ dictates so much around here. That is the reason there is a blue forum now and there isn't any vendors over there. Once you cut out the money and greed everything seems to be a lot clearer. With that said though, I am still all about supporting the vendors here that I trust and are honorable (S&P, Realtune, etc.) and without the money they generate for Ekool and the likes this forum probably wouldn't be what it is today (the helpful part at least)

Actually, the blue forum is there because a lot of people got butthurt for questioning EK's authority over his own board and banned them. It just happens to get so little traffic that there is no need for sponsorship at this point. EK's business is a for-profit company that doesn't need to offer a sliding scale for vendor's fees, and it actually keeps the other vendors happy since someone can't come in here and sell off-brand Korean parts and brand them as their own and undercut the market selling inferior products while maintaining such razor-thin margins that they can't afford the vendor fees.

Just sayin.

I for one would never buy off-brand korean parts unless they were of excellent quality... I believe the forum moderates itself pretty good as far as weeding the crap out, at least for the most part. Look at all the ebay hate, of course with a few exceptions (IC's come to mind). But those have proven their worth. It just sucks that Money > Community

Just sayin
