Default July25/26 SCCA Time Trials, Club Trials and PDX

Ok Guys I need as many of you to sign up to run this one.

There will be a PDX (Performance Driving Experience) a Track Trial and Club Trials weekend at Bremerton motorsports park on the July 25/26th weekend.

PDX: This is basicly a 'how to drive your car on a racing surface' thing. You go out with an instructor and you learn the basics at a bit above highway speed progressing throughout the day. The PDX serves as a Driving School for Club and Track Trials.

The Club Trials ( what most of you will be running ) is a timed lapping event. Pretty much what we have been doing in Portland except the event is timed and classed. You are racing yourself for a best in class time. This is the FIRST type of timed event most recent new SCCA race drivers have been doing. You still get an instructor depending on your experience. Your car must be street legal and this level does not require drivers safety gear or a cage. SCCA membership required (15$ for a 3 day membership available at the track.) As well as proof that you have completed at least one Performance Driving School or Experience.

Track Trials ( aka time trials ) is also a timed event. These cars MUST have a cage and driver must have safety gear and all must comply with the GCR (SCCA General Competition Rules) These cars can be pretty much anything from moms old 67 Mini with a cage and prepared to Pruduction rules, all the way up to a fully tube-framed GT1 prepared Viper or even a full on downforce car ( think indy or lemans or prototype cars ) . The posibilities are endless.

This is a great event to show those Mazda Speed 3/6, zo6, and Porsche owners how much of a pussy their cars are. And how our neons kick thier asses all over the track. LOL

Looks like the PDX/CT will be on friday and the CT/TT groups will be all day Saturday. But this may change to go the other way. I will continue to post details as they are made.

ok .. THE CATCH. ( and cooly its not that bad )

I need the lot of you that have been down to PIR with me to sign up for this. I need to call in a favor so to speak ( lol ok so to some of you I'm going in the hole here but ..) If we don't get good numbers to this event the whole program may die out and the SCCA in our region will loose this stepping stone to help newcomers to racing.

Please help me get people to sign up either by cross posting or whatever. If you have a friend that you want to get into racing or lapping or just want them to have a better appreciation for what thier car is capable of AND how they can be safer drivers and they have a streetworthy car they think can go fast.. (ok the fast part isnt nessasary but it does make the boring straight part a bit shorter) get em out there for club trials or at very least the PDX ( if they have no previous track experience ).

I will post a link to the appropriate NWR-SCCA.org page with details, schedule and Entry Form as I get em.

In the mean time read this: What is Time Trials

Thanks all!

Working ... wow cool idea.. well if you are there as a qualified working member of the SCCA you get a afternoon session for FREE!!!

So, Brian, if you show up you will be running!

Too bad most of the rest of you haven't done some sort of performance driver's school AND got your SCCA annual membership AND showed up to a previous SCCA event I have posted to get trained to work these types of events. If you show up to work and you have at least a 3day membership (purchased at the track) I might be able to use a couple of you. (of course those that have helped me before have precidence)

Bremerton Motorsports Park is a great environment to feel out your car. Loads of room to get out and play. I have close to 4700 laps (both seats) on this track in about 11 different configurations (16 if you count the auto-x courses). You will learn alot about your car!

talk soon!

David

I'll have to get the three day membership again. Can't afford the full SCCA membership at the moment (even with the discount)....

Tech is gonna be pretty easy and finished by 9am each day. Then if you still want to work I'll find something for you. Are you and the Mrs. sharing a car ( totally cool to do BTW since you are both different levels and would be in different groups )? Oh yah this is gonna be fun!
