Sooooooooo, I was in an accident recently and I'm pretty certain that they car will be totaled out. I haven't heard yet from my insurance company, but the shop's estimate was quite high. I wasn't doing anything stupid, I just got caught up in a multiple car accident on I-5. I walked away with a small bruise on my leg from the steering wheel; so I'm fine, just bummed with how much work I put into the car to have it vanish like that. I haven't quite decided what I will do if they total the car in terms of buying it back and trying to part it out or sell the car off as a project, but I am certain that I have had my last neon. I've had lots of fun, learned lots of new things about cars I never knew before, but I've realized that it is time for me to move on to something new.
Even though I lurked here more than participated, I just wanted to let you guys know that I appreciated any and all help that you guys provided. I wish you all the best
Word of advice.... Just stop now before it gets worse... Let it all wash away... This post backs up your post count. You might be able to bench 300lbs, but this internet is Serious Business and you are not ready....
Next car is most likely going to be the Scion tc Limited Edition. I'll eventually turbo charge her, but I have other priorities in my life...better job, my own place, women....women.... women...
I've had three neons and non of them have ever made it past the 50k mileage marker. This is the first time however that I have any accountability. So, with the third times a charm adage, I'm moving on.

It's just a Neon until it beats you; then it's an SRT-4.

Nope I have been waiting to get my hands on a TC for a while now. I have been in PM's with him on the brakes so I should have an idea of "if" he gets the TC.
Just so there is no confusion, I've been in contact with you John on the wilwood brakes and Jordan on the buy back depending on if they total my car or fix it. For everyone else, my insurance decided, to my surprise, to get a 3rd party to come in and appraise the value of my car since it is nowhere near anything a base model SXT would be. If they based my car as a SXT it would 100% be totaled out, now there is still a chance that it can be fixed. I'm slightly tired of this game, and would just love to know whether or not I keep the car I put a lot of time and effort into or whether I buy a new car (the tC) and eventually put a lot of time and effort into it.
Soooooo, I should know next week what is going on.... sorry for any confusion, but I was damn sure they were toasting the car. They definitely through me a curve ball on this one.
The tC looks really cool and has A LOT of potential. My bro-n-law already has plans laid out for a car I don't own yet and the guy that I would buy the car from had plans as well... I really find it quite amusing John that you've got plans as well :P .... It is a damn addicition working on cars... very funny!
So, whatcha got in mind?

The TC has some of the worst blind spots in any car I have driven. Since it has the panorama sunroof, they build out the pillars like a tank-several inches wide. It has a tiny window behind the seats to check your blind spots but the frame is so thick you can't see out of it. The mirrors are tiny, too. The rear window has about as much viewing space as an SRT under the wing. The panorama sunroof is kinda cool, but it's got a big bar going across it ala a T-Top that separates it into two normal-sized sunroofs, one of which opens. From the outside it looks like one big sunroof but that's not the case. If you're a bigger guy or over 5'9" don't bother. The interior is very cramped and the seat doesn't go back very far. It does get up to speed OK, but nothing to write home about. A non-S Mini Cooper seems to get there quicker.
Overall, if you haven't already, test drive it and make sure you can live with it before you drop the cash on it.
Even straight guys where pink shirts... and a car made for women drivers... they want f*n tanks so that they feel secure and can see over everyone else. I don't think a tC constitutes as one, but if so does it really matter?
Anyway, I have driven the tC and found it to be more comfortable than my neon. I didn't notice any large blind spots, but that really is just dependent on where the driver positions themselves. Yeah... the driver seat could use the ability to go back just a bit further, but it wasn't a significant issue to me. As for the power... well its hard to find an inexpensive car that will have the power that our SRT-4s have right out the box. I test drove the mazda 3 speed and was really shocked at the performance of the vehicle. 263hp of go nowhere cause the car is so heavy. The tC is better than a base model neon, but not as good as the SRT (not yet... :P)
And then there still is the chance that they will appraise my car's value high enough that the shop will fix it. I'll then be able to replace some parts with upgraded parts and continue to work on my project.
