intermittent boost loss under hard accel - SRT Forums

I have an 05 SRT-4 stg3 with turbo toys, then put these add-ons:
Engine
Turbonetics blow-off valve
AEM intake
180 degree thermostat
National Speed custom intercooler hard pipe
Ported exhaust manifold
Suspension
D2 Coilovers
Interior
Autometer gauge pod
Autometer cobalt digital gauges:
Oil pressure,
Oil Temp
Wideband, egt
Wheels
Drifz 505B wheels
National Speed, Inc.
(the dyno is wrong that was before the mods it is now 326.60 hp and 336.90 trq)
When I bought the car used it ran fine until the drive home. I noticed under hard accel at about 4k rpm in 3rd it lost boost and power, just for a second at first thought this might be due to me playing with the octane mode button. This was not the case. I have an intermittent issue with the boost loss under hard acceleration. It does not happen in 1st or 2nd and also does not happen in 0 or 1 on the mopar boost controller. When you put in 2 or 3 of the boost controller and go over 20 psi that’s when it happens. It would be like if you where in hard acceleration and let of the gas and went right back into it. I have noticed that the boost gauge goes down when this happens. The mods I have done to the car were after I bought it. I thought this might be a mechanical issue. I recently bought a stage 3 waste gate since that was the last thing to change out. After talking with my mechanic he thinks it is an electrical issue IE a mapp sensor or the waste gate solenoid or maybe the boost controller. Does anybody know what might be the issue here, or have had this issue and found the fix. It is killing me because I am winding out in 3rd or 4th and have that momentary loss of power and that’s not a good thing. I have also noticed that when I use stage 0 and 1 that the boost will stop at 8-10 in 0 and 12-15 in 1 but with rpm’s getting over 4k it will keep boosting up, not stay at 10 or 15 hope this helps. what plugs are you using and what gap are they at?

have had local tune tech check that pligs look fine they are the irridume (sp) and he gapped at .022 still have issue

make sure the rubber pipe on your CAI is not collapsing under pressure when ur at high boost.

My AEM intake is stainless stell it had a perrin rubber intake on it when I bought it and i changed to the stell just because that might be the issue. thanks for the reply

Spark Plug wires can also be a source of problems under hard acceleration.

Other things to check,
Boost leaks,
Wastegate sticky
fuel pressure when it happens
It might just be getting in to knock and kicking you out.
Verify you boost guage, actual boost may be higher than it is reading.
