Question sputtering

the sputtering seems to be comming from the turbo. my pessimisim is telling me compressor surge, but someone's also just told me i need better plugs. honestly though i didnt have this issue prior to installing my EBC. but from what i hear i ended up getting one of the worst EBC's out there, which is shocking to me b/c AEM has great products.

i'm just not really understanding what happend,
i did all the vac lines correctly, tripple checked them. i'm not boosting anymore than i should.

That's the thing with the gain setting, it's not about how high you are boosting, it adjusts how fast you boost. Which I think might be the problem. To much gain and you will spike, to low and you will have turbo lag... which might be the source of the sputtering. Take your car to a professional though before turning knobs and pressing buttons in excess, and if you do anything make sure you go with the defaults in the documentation and make adjustments in small increments. Greddy has a tech support line, maybe AEM might have one. I've been able to chat up techs for a good half hour at least on my EBC. They were pretty cool.

AEM is good at two things: Intakes and Stickers. The latter isn't really that important.

PLEASE HELP!!! I have an AVCR which i love, now that i went GT30R i have NO traction in 2nd and 3rd gear even adding a LSD to my '03 trans. I know the AVC-R can act like a traction control with gear specific boost but i can't figure it out. i know how to set boost/duty, and i have the gear judge values set correct using the transmission gear ratios and a speed calculator, but when i mess with start duty and/or gear learn it doesn;t seem to change anything. All i really want/need to do is some how turn the boost down in 2nd/3rd gear with out affecting 4th/5th gear. PLEASE help. Getting beat by new honda accords light to light because i'm blowing the tires off 1st-3rd gear!!

You go into the start duty cycle screen and add correction per gear you want to limit the boost in...

wrong.

the spring setting is the cracking pressure at which the solenoid opens and lets the WG see boost. if that is too high then you will see fluctuations and boost instability.

the duty cycle % is how you adjust peak boost levels.

adjust ur boost levels first and then turn up the cracking pressure slowly until you see boost instability and then turn it down a touch. that gives you the fastest most spool with good stability. that procedure has been working well for me.

lots of wrong information out with this boost controller on this site!

Default Injector Duty Cycle is 96%??

Maybe someone can answer this for me I have an AVCR and the injector duty cycle at idle is 96% and at WOT is 75%-80%. I don't have the boost by gear learning on. There was a post about this in another thread, but it was a couple years old and nobody answered the question. Just curious if anyone has this issue or has figured it out.

Thanks.

there is one thing i could never figure out. what does the boost function actually do considering the gain is what actually raises the boost? i thought it was a fail safe to keep from over shooting the desired boost but i was wrong. its the AVCR by the way.
