I'm not POSITIVE, but I think the box is required if it is anywhere inside your passenger compartment. If it was in the back of a pickup (for example) I don't think you need a box, but for the trunk of a car with fold down seats, that is considered the passenger compartment. You can get boxes at Advanced. Just look into the legality of it first.

For those not wanting to relocate your battery to could try this...

Yup....that's inside the passenger compartment even if you had a back seat...

only problem is i heard those batteries suck in cold weather.
in cali (where it doesnt even really get below 55*), a local has a hard time starting his car in the mornings, and has to jump start his car.

any resolutions to fix that?

did he have a car alarm as well?? reason i ask is because i had one on a 91 civic i owned and when i left for work in the morning it would be about 45-50 degrees and i had no problem starting the car. only time i had an issue would be if i let the car sit for longer than one day because of the viper pager alarm.

Most kits come with 2 gauge wire. Do we have to use 2 or with 4 work? I have 4 gauge already ran. I dont even think stock wiring is even 4 gauge i am guessing 5 or 6 gauge wire.

But the stock wiring only runs 18-24". When you run longer distances, you need to "up" the gauge of the cable. 4Ga may work, but I wouldn't go any smaller than that!

True about the feet part! haha I would never go smaller then 4.
But i used to be in car audio stuff and i have ran roughly 1000 watts rms amps with only 4 gauge wire which = roughly 80 amps at 12 volts. I would never think an engine would run over 80 amps current and for extend periods of time. 4 gauge has roughly .00029 resistance per foot. so roughly 20' =s .0058 resistance, shouldnt ever notice that.

With all this 4 gauge should work, unless the engine load is hella lot more then i think.

yeah wire is based off of amp load on it, 4 gauge would be fine to run, i do runs of 10 gauge wire for air conditioners that are close to 40 feet long and will pull over 40 amps without any risk of fire
