honestly, its a matter of WHO you like better vendor wise.

it isnt brain science to adjust timing maps, change to 3bar calibration, recal the injector sizings, then adjust fuel.

honestly, thats all it is, and both wont differ much from one another.

1 guy just posted he went from 340 non-sct tuned, to 400hp sct tuned from pwerks.

both vendors wont do you wrong, and the info provided by other people on here is a matter of preference and opinion. both of which will do no good for YOU and YOUR car.

ive had great experiences w/ both, but plan on going pwerks for the ability to use their maps down the road when i get the prp.

and why start 2 threads? delete the 1 that isnt in the sct section.

says there they only include a 93 oct base tune for a basically stock srt. i need something that i can tell them my mods and they can take that into account when sending me a tune.

pretty much. even though pwerks is cheaper at 535 they charge 140 for the 3 bar map and tip, and agp sells for 700 w/ 3 bar map and tip mod, and like you said pwerks maps arnt locked so if i did go prp in the future id have all the hard work done for me already.

BINGO.

personally, pm jon@agp or greg@pwerks.

both will get you what you are lookin for, or will help do so.

and as you stated, the bonus w/ Pwerks is u can use their maps for the prp later.

i think agp will catch on later down the road and unlock their maps for use if you buy a prp from them.

Unless a Tuner has your exact combination and I mean EXACT right down to the zip ties, and has done a FULL tune not just WOT, it would be a wild guess a best, Mail order tunes are meant to get you up and running enough to get to a dyno for a full tune.

This information is not meant to bash anyone it is FACTUAL to educate the public.

That is the reason most tuners will not send you anything other than the 93 octane tune for a basically stock SRT or any other brand for that matter.

i see your point as well but you guys are probably the closest sct tuners to me and im not driving 10 hours, so a canned tune is going to be better for me than pulling 20% across the board w/ my computer, i mean just having 3bar and my idle good id be happy, bc then i can fine tune everything with my fuel computer and only have to take out small percentages, instead of huge ones that will negatively affect my timing causing knock.

For a guy like you that would be fine because you understand that a can tune still needs work, and you have a way to adjust it.

I just want guys to NOT expect a can tune to be spot on.

Can tunes do work if the Tuner comes up with a combination and the person purchasing it Sticks to that Combination EXACTLY.

Too many Guys come into my shop that purchased a can tune and are complaining about this and that most of the time they say to Me;

I don't understand why the tune sucks my combination is basically the same.

But it never is.

x2 on that^^...I'm a long way away from an SCT tuner and i'm perfectly happy with the canned tunes I got from Pwerks. I was fortunate enough to get 93, 100 and 103 tunes. Mine tunes were rather simple because of my mods, but I don't have any misconceptions about massive power gains. One of the best parts is I was able to send the flasher back to pwerks to update my tunes because I just purchased a pnp'd turbo/mani. combo and a 3" O2 housing. I don't why they couldn't just email it to me...hmmm. But that's another story. Right now this setup works for me and urge people who are thinking about getting the SCT to decide if they want someone else to do the tune and send it to them, or buy the entire PRP and have someone dyno tune it locally. Obviously, the cheaper option nets less gains, but it's a lot easier too. If you're interested, do your homework!!

I had a procharged Focus SVT. I got the SCT X-Cal II for the car. I had a mail order tune from a company and it was just a generic tune to get me going around.
Once I got it dyno tuned, I think I gained like 20 hp/ 30 tq or something close to that. The car pulled better but there wasn't that much of a difference. I might have noticed more of a difference if the shop that tuned my car was familiar with it (the first focus SVT they ever worked on).
Put it this way, it's like the stgd kits. Mopar sends em out super rich and good enough to get the car moving. Fine tune it, it's a whole other animal. I guess that's the way to look at it when getting a mail order tune. They're not bad but they could be better.

whats weird to me is that i got all that 3 bar stuff in my car.car ran worse with the tip jumper.50%throttle would just start surging.i guess i got a canned tune, ran 10.0 a/f at 13 psi.put it at 20psi still 10.0 wide open, pulled 20%with safc-2 still 10.0 wide open.so i guess that would be in the tune
