Mine's been doing that since day 1...

Not only do I have to uninstall, I have to delete ALL the files in the Advantage program folder and reinstall from a clean slate EVERY time. My roommate is a programmer and he said that the uninstall program only removes files the install program puts in. Apparently updating the program adds files, but the uninstall wont remove them. If you don't delete the whole folder, it still gives the same errors after a reinstall.

I had to figure this out on my own... hope it saves you some headache.

Stew, you gotta contact MikeT at SCT... That's why I haven't updated in forever. I don't want to go through BS. I plan on updating once datalogging comes out... So maybe never.

Simple fix, before updating, go in to advantage folder and delete racer.dbb folder, then update and it will replace it.

It is a known bug.

Ted.

It's not a simple fix ted. He is one of the first prp owners. So he needs his dongle updated. Somehow SCT managed to screw up all the original dongle users.

Sorry, sounded like the same Issue I have every time I update, I have to delete my racer.dbb folder or I lose access to my racer codes.

I hope this doesn't mean what I think it might mean.

I did try your fix while I am on hold here and no it did not work. It did replace the file b/c the original file was 1kb and the new one was 9kb. Thanks though.

Well just to let you guys know, everything works better then before on my computer.

By "before" I mean "before I had my access removed and restored".

I don't know if it was a trick from SCT to know who has access to everything or just an additional error from them...

Probably just an addition error. I updated mine a little while ago and ran in to the issue. Contacted MikeT@SCT and got everything back to the way it was before. I updated recently and it lost access to my pcm codes(again). I just reran the update from the actual SCT folder on my computer(not the link on the desktop, the actually updateadvantage.exe file) and it ran just fine.

I always update from the file in the folder... I have had to do that almost since I got it to avoid errors. The shortcut never works right.
