ok i have a friend that have a prp
she's running an almost stock stage 2 tune..just added around 2 degre from 3500 and above
when i look at here timing curve the timing is way low from 3000 to 4500 and after that it come back up...i doesn't incease proportionally to rpm like mind does (and boost)
on here setup the tip is not connected to the cold pipe and embiant temp sensor is hanging in the engine bay.
i.m juste wondering if one of those 2 would be responsable for that weird timing ??
we check for knock with the aeroforce at first and no knock
Considering that charge temp plays a major role in dtermining your timing, Id say that thered line and the IAT sensor not being hooked up is messing with the timing.
i wonder if any one can chime in... what other factors does the pcm take in to adjust timing other then knock?
the temp sensor should not make a difference , well did not for me anyway... i had 3" CAI with the temp sensor in and compared to the 4" SRI with the sensor out the timing is droping at the same place on the dyno sheet (6200) if that was the case.. should be across the board not just one section of the rpm band. tell me if i am not correct on this please.
now i have a SRI so.. the temp sensor should not matter for me too much.. have it right where the filter is so... yea.
CAI or SRI?
if you have a cai... would not hurt to put the sensor in.
also... is the car on stock boost noids? / pcm controlled boost?(solinoids 1,2,3?)<spelling?
how much psi?
I think PK was talking about the air temp sensor on the charge pipe by the throttle body.

according to moreause, he is talking about the ambiant temp sensor... the one for the intake. atleast that is how my scan guage reads them (ambient= intake pipe, intake is cold pipe)
The air temp sensor is in the 'cold air hole' in the fender.
the TIP sensor is NOT pluged into the coldpipe. We should have a nipple welded soon.
The intake manifold is port matched to the head.
The turbo is only boosting 18 psi. The tuner (a reputable shop near montreal) didn't wanted to raise the boost. I had to leave when the car was still making 273whp. When I phone to ask how he was doing, he told me he wasn't able to make more than 350whp-350ft-lbs. I ask him how much boost they were running and he told me he didn't want to raise over 18 psi. The turbo is quit large (secret receipt from another reputable shop), something like a 60trim and I think we could make another 30 whp at 20 psi.
Also, I suspect the wastegate dumping into the downpipe to be stealing some power...
We'll start by correcting the TIP and Air temp sensor first...
I left the shop when the car was making 270 whp at 4000 rpm. He was making pull at low rpm to see how the timing, afr were. The car is making 350 whp @ 18 psi. Which is still not enought !
when i look at here timing curve the timing is way low from 3000 to 4500 and after that it come back up.
