From the outside looking in point of view. Email tuning and the SCT is not perfected and has a purpose only in the car running, not in optimal and maybe not as in a best performance option situation = not worth the cost to purchase if best is whats being used as a buying criteria.
IMO
From reading its more hype then anything at this point. But I could be all wrong.
IMO
At some point if the players involved in dealing with "canned" tunes who do the tuning perfect the situation with remote tuning via remote access, then tunes that can be paid for after a tuner has looked at logs or live action might be worth it. Currently IMO the pricing does not fit......unless I'm missing something that an existing user/owner sees that I can not because I have not done this yet.
IMO
If you buy a package of parts/mods AND the "canned" tune that suits or otherwise compliments the parts being installed then email tunes would be a workable and satisfactory option and decent investment.
Again, above is not from experience but as someone looking a little and seeing the good and bad from a buyer perspective or point of view.

I went with pwerks just because I can go to my tuner and they will be able to edit the maps, AGP locks them. but then again I have heard a lot of good things about AGPs tunes.
Getting your car tuned from someone across the country is always going to cause problems for some cars. Even after all the new SCT dealer/tuners work on a ton of SRT-4's and get to know all the little nuances and variations in the stock calibration and how to modify it they'll be going off their experience to ensure your car runs safe and performs well. Some of them will tune conservative and the customer won't be happy because they didn't gain power (even though the car may run better and safer over the long term). Some will push the tune too far and the customer won't monitor on their own and the cars will blow up. Some will run into issues that are extremely hard to diagnose and correct in the tune because of the car, and it may not even be something with the tune but another part or limitation in the setup, then said customer will not be happy and get jaded against SCT and their tuner. And some will be perfectly happy and sing endless praise.
As the tuners learn it will hopefully shift towards that last one but you have to accept the risk you might run into those other issues. And it's not a cheap purchase and right now the customer can't even data log (with Live Link via the XCal2) so you unless you already have a compliment of logging and data acquisition equipment you'll have to rely and take that risk the tuner knows what they're doing and can resolve issues "blind" so to speak if you do have a problem.
There's great potential with these capabilities but you have to understand the risks with any tuner. Even one that has access to your car and can tune on a loading dyno and verify on the street may have issues if they don't have a ton of experience with tuning the SRT-4 via SCT.

Reason: speeling
The way I look at it, the canned tunes may not be perfect, but when you buy the AGP tune they at least offer free modifications to the maps via email. Eventually all of these little issues that people bring up will be worked through, and I'm guessing they'll come to the point of releasing a "2.0" map which will resolve them.
Paying more for the canned tune with infinite free support is probably equal to paying less for a custom tune that cannot be modified or doesn't have free support, in the long run.
I do have a Scan gauge and I can data log my AFRs with my wideband (it’s not much). I figured that since I will be getting the AGP turbo they would be the best ones to do the tune since they know the specs on the turbo. I understand what you all are saying though. WHat i am looking for is not a racecar, rather something that is fast, reliable and something that I don’t have to tune.

LOL. Its not their turbo. They just sell it and the specs for the turbo's aren't a secret. They're all over the place.
I'm extremely happy with my sct from AGP. Kevin's been real good about service from phone conversations discussing what needs to be changed to getting a revised tune in my email in less than 12 hrs after the conversation. The car runs smoother than it probably did when stock and gas mileage has nearly doubled what it was before. I'd definitely reccomend agp.
