When you flash the pcm with updated code--changing parameters in the tune--does that reset the keep alive memory? More specifically are the obd2 monitors reset? I remember reading in a previous post about changing the turn on temp for the catalyst o2 to keep the mil from turning on; does this keep the obd2 monitors from setting? Has anyone verified this with KOEO?
Can the monitors be set through the prp software without a drive cycle?
After i did a quick flash to 3 bar on my car i took it for a test drive. Because i forgot to disconnect the battery and reset the pcm after the flash the car ran kinda crappy because it didn't reset the adaptives. The adaptives were still setup for the stage 1 setup so the adaptives were screwed due to the bigger injectors i had in the car. Once i reset the PCM everything was fine.
So, in saying that I don't think the PCM obd2 monitors are reset when you flash the PCM. And as far as passing emissions, as long as the PCM doesnt throw a check engine light you should be OK.

Initially I would say no, you would not pass emissions, however, after reading the above post, I think you prob would. I don't think there is anything in the emissions testing equipment that would tell the inspector that some PCM function was turned off, that would not be practicable at all for the emissions stations. They would have to have ON FILE in the computer every single cars factory PCM settings in existence in the USA to do that. Not only that but they would have to have the ability to compare the programs in every case. Keep in mind that there are not exactly alot of people reflashing their PCM's, it's not worth the states trouble to execute a program to catch modified PCM's. They are more concerned with the millions of cars that are REALLY polluting our atmosphere. Keep in mind that even a factory PCM that is altered for a big turbo STILL is providing emissions control at cruise, it is only when it's under load that it may pollute, and even then it's no more than any other car running in open loop if tuned properly.

i'd assume as long as your car is within spec, you pass the visual inspection, and there's no cel, then yes, you'd pass emissions.

Not in Nevada--all obd 2 monitors must be set. P1000 = no pass. What I was interested in knowing is whether a flashed car would set the obd monitors.
Easy check to make: turn the key to run without starting car; after 15 to 20 seconds the cel will either flash or stay lit; if it flashes, obd2 monitors are not set, and if it stays solid they are set.
I just got the prp in the mail today, and will eventually be able to answer my own question. But I am still curious to know if anyone has checked this or not.
