Ouch . I guess it could be one of three problem sets .

1. the handheld is no longer " married " to your ECU . If you have a "dealer flash package" , I would get in touch with your dealer shop . If you have a PRP version then you may have to restart the whole proccess you went through when you first bought it , or get with a SCT tech over the phone to resolve .

2. The handheld hardware is at fault . I would normally not consider this a high probability , but I have personally had a Xcal-II screw me , hardware wise . even if the handheld wont recognize your PCM as its "spouse" it should still be able to check for fault codes on any SRT4 . does it do this successfully on your car ? can you try it on another SRT4 ? If it cant I would think its safe to blame the handheld .

3. your PCM or OBD-II port is at fault . I suppose this is possible . if the handheld can check & clear trouble codes on another SRT4 , but not yours , i think its safe to blame your car .

You may be able to use a non SRT4 dodge to use as your handheld checker , I dont know if it can read non SRT4 OBD-II port for trouble codes , can anybody chime in on this ?

Sorry to waste your time if I am telling you stuff you already know . As a victim of this crud myself , I can sympathize with you .

^------ well if i go to handheld info it has my vin and everything in there. i just got it back from SCT when i called they said it worked fine and it has to be somthing wrong with my car...? makes no sense. only thing that i have that is odd is

1 i have my old AEM EMS cable soldered into my OBD harness still BUT its not connected or anything so i dont see how it can cause an issue

2: i have a few odd PCM wires that are re-connected with Barrel connectors im going to fix that tommorow.

wierd thing is yesterday it would connect it just wouldnt flash anything. im really starting to go crazy

We connected my xcal to his car to check for codes to see if we would get the same thing as we did with his xcal and it gave the same error... I just didn't even think to check my car with his xcal... You can plug your xcal into any OBDII port to check for codes... Your vette or your charger... Either one will work. If it checks it, then you know that it's something on your car... That's why we checked my xcal on your car
