Default FINALLY!! Got an SCT XCal II

So, I finally was able to get my hands on an XCal 2. Installed the drivers, live load, etc. and hooked it up to my laptop. I was excited to see that it was, indeed, unlocked and that I would be able to use it without a problem.

I just need a little advice. Firstly, I posted this in another thread, but the only major, and I use that term loosely, modification that will be done to the car would be an AGP WGA at this point right now. Funds are low, economy sucks, yada yada yada.

Anyway, the three tunes that were loaded on the XCal are for Stage 2, and I'm running a Stage 0 PCM .. so, my question is what is my best bet as far as getting an e-mail tune for the car?

I can get rid of the overboost code without tuning the car via the XCal2, so it's not like I need it specifically for that .. I'm just wondering what would be a good idea to add as far as getting some gains.

Again .. all that's in the car is an AGP WGA, probably will be boosting at around 17-18 PSI to keep it safe (stock turbo and all, that's what I've seen to be the safest). What would you guys recommend? A higher rev' limiter? Should I be shopping around for e-mail tunes and asking for something in specific? Or should I try to get SCT to send me that Stage 0 - 93 Octane tune that they advertised giving "INSANE" gains, since it doesn't seem like I need to get a tune to adjust anything in specific at this point in time?

Keep me posted! Thanks!

since you are still stock
starting from a stage 0 or 1 tune will be easyer

but since you pnly have the xcal you need a ll3 tune so you can program it in your xcal without the propackage

maybe use the 93 oct like you said but with the overboost code removed

ps what year your pcm....because of the #$%^& battery sensor lol

What base codes do you have access to ? You say your Xcal has three stage2 flshes on it . When I open my advantage software , it shows me what base-codes I have access to ( stage0 & stage2 for me ) .
Im assuming you are running stock map/tip sensors & injectors . If so , the stage2 codes wont work for you as they are .
If you can open stage0 , there are a couple mako tune files ( .mtf ) available to download on the SCT forums , under the Dodge section . Cant remember what thread , though . One of these is the 93 octane map . I wouldnt call it insane , but when you first load it , it does pull hard . then it seemed to adapt & back off a little on my stock setup ( no longer stage0 ) .

I got a 2005 stage 0 pcm. Heard the 2005 SRT4s are a pain in the ass to work on, lol

And as far as getting the map from the SCT forums, I think I saw it up there but can I upload it onto my XCal through liveload once I download it onto my laptop? I'm not really sure how to use this thing yet but I thought it only took .ll3 files or something like that? Keep in mind I don't have advantage 3 software. Just the XCal2 and the LiveLoad from the SCT site.

PS - the reason why there's all stage 2 codes preloaded on my xcal is because that's what the guy I bought it from had. He was nice enough to flash his car back to stock so it wasn't locked anymore, I just can't use an of the tunes, lol

Also, anyone know on average what a simple email tune costs? Simple as in along the lines of the 93octane tune but ... A lil beefier? Thanks!!

Well, I wouldn't be going crazy with the boost. I'd be keeping it at a safe level for the stock turbo. The last thing I want to do is screw up my daily driver.

I'm sure that I won't need a tune if all I'd have is the WGA installed with a little more boost than stock and I can use the xcal to get rid of the overboost code if it pops up.

How do I "marry" the xcal to my car, tho? The instructions I have make it seem like I have to upload a tune first before its locked to my car. Is that the way it goes or when you plug it into the port, does it recognize the car and lock up to it?

when you will try to program the car for the first time it will save the car stock code into the xcal...until you put that file back it the pcm the xcal is married to your car

Ok, so basically to lock it to my car all I have to do is save my stock tune from my car onto one of the slots on the xcal? Do I have to erase one of the three tunes on there already? It doesn't really matter to me since they're all setup for the mopar stage 2 and I don't see myself ever wanting or getting one, lol

oh ok, that makes sense. i think i'm probably gonna marry it to my car today and end up throwing the WGA no the car on Saturday. if it ends up throwing the overboost code, i could always just have the SCT just eliminate it.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I'll keep you posted on everything.
