DO NOT update or use the new version of LiveLoad and .cef files!
This is important info for any SCT Dealers or anyone who receives a tune in .cef format from a dealer.
DO NOT USE IT!
The latest update has a known bug in it that will fry your PCM. My Advantage 3 update automatically on the 22nd, and I can no longer save .ll3 files to send my customers. It now forces you to a new format of .cef, and forces you to enter an XCal2 serial number to tie the file to. Without the serial number, you can't save a "Customer E-mail File".
I was updating a tune to e-mail someone when I discovered this, I checked the SCT Website, and sure enough they relased a new version of LiveLoad on the 22nd. I instructed the person I was sending this file to download the update so they could load the new tune I created for them onto there XCal2. This person flashed there PCM without issue, the flash said it was a success, but the car would not start after the flash. There PCM is now fried. They took it to the dealer and the dealer couldn't even fix it.
My customer contacted SCT through there online chat (he's in another country so it's easiest for him to do him), they told him that there is a confirmed issue with the latest update and the .cef files that will fry your PCM. He was told that they are "currently working to fix this".
I do not know if this issue affects the PRP or tunes loaded from Advantage 3, I do know it affects loading the new .cef files through the new LiveLoad onto the XCal2 and flashing your PCM.
If you can help it, don't update Advantage 3, and do not use the .cef files until SCT has this issue fixed!
I wish I could do more for this situation and keep everybody updated, but I can't. I have to go to Chicago on Sunday for my 6 month old daughter to have major surgery (her entire skull has to be reconstructed), we have to stay in the hospital for 1 week. I should be back on June 8th, and will be polling SCT for an update on this when I return.

I was gonna post a witty comment but the same comment could also be construed as mean and sarcastic so I will just say sorry to hear about your pain and their short falls but good luck with everything

I just got back home today. Downloaded updates, now on 3.3 Build 84, and the export Live Load File option is back... so I think they just reverted back to the .ll3 files.
Seeing that, I would probably still avoid .cef files, and stay away from the current version of Live Load (2.2.11.2). The previous version (2.2) is still available for download... stick to that and using .ll3 files for now and you should be fine.
I'm going to see if I can get ahold of SCT tomorrow to find out what's going on.

I did an update on my software this last Friday. I then tuned a car on my dyno without issues. I have not had to send any calibrations via email to anyone so thats probably why I was not aware of the issue. THANKS for the heads up!

NP... It looks like updating an XCal2 directly from Advantage worked fine, it was only when using a "Customer E-mail File" in the new .cef format that caused problems.
I have confirmed that the latest update putting Advantage 3 at version 3.3 Build 84 works correctly. It is safe to use .ll3 files generated from this build. .cef files should be avoided. If you happen to have run an update that removed the .ll3 export option and replaced it with the .cef export option, you should run an update to get back to the .ll3 files and avoid using the .cef files.
That's liveupdate, not LiveLoad. LU updates the firmware on the X2. LL puts tunes on the X2.
That's correct, I was looking at the wrong thing.
I did some testing, the current version of Live Load is safe to use with .ll3 files. It looks like the .cef files were the only problem, which is why SCT reverted Advantage 3 back to using the .ll3 files.
The version of Advantage 3 that forced you to use .cef instead of .ll3 was only out for about 2 weeks before they changed it back. If/when they try to bring back the .cef format, I would be cautious with it. Definately do not use any .cef files that were created betwen May 22nd and June 5th.

So then the older version is not available on their website correct?
