Default shitty work policy?

i was informed yesterday that if i didn't provide a doctors note after 3 days of missing work i would loose my job (company rules)

doesn't anyone else think this is rediclous? my family and i have been sick for the past 12 days and i was in no condition to move or have my dad drive me to the hospital to pay a doctor to tell me im sick.... lame

when i go in monday i think im gonna tell em either let me keep my job without a note or they can suck my dick....

isnt that just LAW? My job is the same, and im union. Unless they really really enjoy you there [which they do], then they shouldnt care. Just explain your situation and leave the dick sucking for someone u love

I think it's normal. Go with the flow man...they can't terminate you if you follow their procedures, insensative though they may be...it's easier to do that than go looking for a new job, especially now. Telling them that won't help. But thinking it is fine. Good luck.

they didnt provide the ground rules for u during the hiring/training process? i feel u. when i'm not well, i'm not well. doctor doesnt have to tell me that. dont u h8 folks that truly abuse the whole sick time & the doctors that actually write letters saying crazy stuff for their patients (must stay home as needed, etc...). some of that crap is crazy. that's the 1 thing i dislike about us americans.

That policy is typical for corporate america. Every company I have worked for and know of, will expect that.

Shit, try being in the military. They don't give a fuck if you are sick. Unless you are dead then you ARE at work. Oh we have medical? Whatever. If you call a couple asprin a cure for every disease. I can't count the times I've had to rove the main deck of the ship in the middle of the night with a heavy ass gun on my shoulder in the freezing cold puking over the side.

I hate going to the doctor for them to tell me I am sick.

You are sick. Here is a $90 prescription that won't make any difference
in how fast you get well. That will be $100 please.

So you basically pay $200 to keep your job... weeeeeeee.

well. for me the issue was whether they'd pay me or not. i think i've needed dr's notes if i wanted to be both excused AND paid for my sick days, or something like that. i'm never up to speed w/ sick days, vacation, paid day, blah blah blah. dont use enuff of them to be concerned.

I work for Ford as well and it usually goes by a dealership basis. In my case, I was in the hospital all of last week with a 104.5 fever (flu) and they didnt even make me bring in a note.

corporate america is a bitch. I don't get paid by the hour and they expect me at work on time and for 7 hours a day. I have a coworker who hasn't been to work for a month, Only one person that I know of has ever been fired.
