Default Installing my lowering springs next week, what am I missing socal peeps?

SoCal peeps, i'm gonna attempt my first Spring Install next week. Will be taking some pics for a howto..

Here is my check list..

Parts..

1) Goldlines, Eibach, or Progress Lowering springs

Goldlines: GPS-0201(2nd Gen Neon) 2.0" front and rear.
Eibach: Drop: 1.6" front and 1.8" rear
Progress: 40.0603 (SRT-4 Specific) Drop: 1.8" front and rear

2) Camber Kits

a) Specialty Products Co. 81250 for rear

1) Energy Suspension Endlink Bushing kit (for the front)
1) Rear End Links

Goldline: Energy Suspensions Part Num: 9.8123R (or 9.8123GC)
Eibach: Energy Suspensions Part Num: 9.8120GC
Progress: Energy Suspensions Part Num: 9.8120GC

Tools..

1) Miller Special Tool to remove strut top nut (ordered)
1) Torque Wrench
1) Rubber Mallet
1) Spring Compressors
1) Wrench / Sockets and etc

Tips from Various Threads:

a) When installing Rear ends links, make sure car is lowered to level position.
b) Don't turn the clevis bolts
c) Loosen strut top not slightly while still installed in the the car (before removing them).
d) Installing clevis bolt back will be a pain, raise the wheel hub and try again.
e) Align Upper Spring Seat (notch out on the front springs, arrow out on the rear springs)
f) Cut Bump Stops

Goldlines: 1" both front and rear
Eibachs: 25 mm front, 20 mm rear
Progress: Trim in Half

g)

Quote:
Putting the strut back together was hard at first. Then I figured out that I could basically sit on it to compress it. I put the bottom of the strut on the ground, and sat around the top of the upper spring seat, placing all 175 lbs of my weight on the spring. Then, very quickly, I put a socket with the nut between my crotch and twisted quickly. ;-) [Don't get too excited, I was just putting the nut back on the top of the strut. If you figure out a better way (without using compressors) let me know. :-) ]

e) Longer Springs go on back, not front.

Any tips you guys care to give?

Hopefully, I won't loose a freaking screw this time (it took longer to find the damned steering column missing screw than install CoreDump's TT)..

ALIGNMENT SPECS for SRT4

0 - 0.20 Left
0 - 0.20 Right

Rear
0.5 - 0.25 Left

Torque Specs:

Cushion Retainer Bolts 28 N·m (250 in. lbs.)
Link Nut 31 N·m (275 in. lbs.)

Most important tip...Well 2

1. Patients, and lot of it

2. Appointment with a local alingment shop. Same day or atleast the next morning. Don't want to trash out the tires, this can happen quickly.

Camber adjustment kit for the FRONT too.. DOUBLE CHECK with "TEX" as to the part numbers, THE SP CATALOG IS WRONG!!!!!

ALIGNMENT SPECS... SRT-4's are aligned differently from stock neons, and not as severe as ACR's for track.

My Opinon : The rear endlinks fron Energy SUCK. The Bushings SUCK, compared to the stock ones... Theyre MUCH stiffer. Also the rear endlinks will need modification in order to NOT hit the struts. The Stock sway bar is ODD, and is bent in such a shape as it angles the endlinks when the car is lowered, Does anyone know if Eibach or whoever makes a sway bar that corrects this ?

Good luck funks. I'm installing the Eibach Pros this week too. Anybody know how far from the bottom I cut the bumpstops?

a saw a post by tex on one of the threads, it states

81270 for the FRONT.. 81250 on the back.. As for the rear endlinkes, I bought the ES ones which are supposed to be the ones used with the gold lines, do I need further modifications?

anybody know the alignment specs for the SRT? so that I can just take it with me to the alignment shop.. The SRT4 service manual supplement doesn't seem to have the info..

Hmm, can't wait for the walk through. I've got my eibachs sitting here waiting to be installed and I'm considering doing the install myself. Can I rent a spring compressor from a hardware store? I obviously don't have a lift, can I use jacks?

You'll need the compressors euph. Me and couple buddies tried the install without them but it didn't happen. I'm having a helluva time finding an auto parts store to rent some from now too. Good luck.

So I bought a spring compressor for $35 at Autozone.

I posted this last night and maybe it will help you also:

The instruction I got from Eibach were minimal.
They said to trim the bump stops 25mm on the front and 20mm on the rear.
Trim the pointy end that faces down.

Do you happen to have the part number for those shorter ES Endlinks (eibach)?

Energy Suspension Rear End Link Set PN: 9.8120GC, $14.99
Energy Suspension Front Bushing Set PN: 9.8105GC, $8.99

The front bushing set is just a polyeurothane replacement for the stock rubber bushings. The rear end link set is ONLY for the Eibach springs. Gold Lines and other springs will require a different size end link set.

TEX stated it's 81270 (15mm) <--- it's wrong. It does not fit the front, just tried it earlier. The cam is slightly bigger and it doesn't fit the clevis bolt hole.

Not sure if the 81260 fits (it's 14mm, so fine width wise, don't know length wise).

contact SPC Performance at 800-525-6505 and ask me for a local retailer that sells it in your area.. (cheaper that way).

The price per pair is around 20-25$
