So, I have always wondered how anyone could shift from the top of 3rd to 2nd. I found out the hard way I feel like such an idiot. I was able to drive the rest of the way to work with only a slight rattling sound when I let of the gas. The check engine light didn't come on but I am now getting a loud rattling sound when the clutch is engaged. As soon as I push the clutch in the sound goes away. I think I remember reading something about bolts backing out of the flexplate or something like that? If this is the case I would pay someone local to help me fix it.
Down shifting like that can cause major problems so dont do it again but i think your problem is in the trany (flexplate)or eaven a TOB with the Pedal out there is no load on the TOB, and it rattles.
Your flexplate (aka flywheel, although it's not really a flywheel) to crankshaft bolts have come loose. Happens almost 90% of the time when someone downshifts like that.
Yep, that's why i replied to this thread. I don't exactly have the time (much less the patience, these days...hahaha) to do the work on your car. I don't have a very useful garage, and with the weather taking a turn for the worse, I definitely won't be undertaking a job like this out in the cold.
I have a garage and have a decent set of tools. I could buy anything that I don't have. Did I mention that I would pay you It's totally cool if you can't though. I just hate taking my car to most shops. They will probably tell me I need a bunch of crap that I don't. Is there any way to tighten the bolts without dropping the trans so that I could atleast avoid having it towed?
Also, if you know anyone else that might be up for the job and would like to make some quick cash let me know. Thanks!!!

yeah i hate shope, when i broke my linkage they told me it was going to need a new clucth. friends ftw!
how is your shifting? is it hard or is it the same before you went 3 to 2 beside the rattleing.
It shifts the same. I actually drove it for about 10 minutes after it happened. If it has a constant load on it then it doesn't even rattle. I am assuming because everything is being held in place by the force. Unfortunately I don't really know any other SRT owners in Utah that can help me out so I think that I am just going to figure it out myself. I would much rather have someone to help/show me how though, lol. I think that I have all of the tools that I need except a tranny jack. Time to look up the How-To
