Default boost not consistent

so after a very dissapointing, but fun night at the track. I did a pull or 3 on the way home. I turned the boost controller off, kept the downpipe closed. So this is strictly wastegate results. 3rd gear pull and 4th gear pull I noticed my boost doesnt just spike, hit and hold then drop off towards the end like I figured it would/should. Instead my boost spikes, then it becomes very inconsistent after that. example: boost spikes 19, drops to 16.5 ,1second later it goes to 14, 1 second later it's 15, 1 seconds later its 17.7, but then always drops off toward redline. I know I have a small vacuum leak, because at idle im bouncing between 16 and 17 w/ no AC. Zoomie could hold 18 steady!

so what is everyone's opinion of this strangeness. We've already determined my intake is more than likely an issue that is def. robbing me of power. But any thoughts as to what is causing this boost bouncing. I didnt notice it at the track because Im to busy driving / not crashing / not blowing up / shifting at the correct point to really watch my boost.

Definately fix the vacuum leak, in mine it always causes the boost to be unstable. Not sure what else it could be, but your more than welcome to use my DSP to log, and post the log here to see if anyone can see if its pcm related.

That would be really helpfull. When are you getting the dsp? I saw your for sale post and you mentioned something about the dsp.

Oh, I don't know where the leak is either... when I did the turbo install I fixed it for a while, but only a little bit, because it was steady at -17. I should be able to hold -18, but now it bounces between 16 and 17. Even when I did a boost leak test at zoomies we couldn't find any leaks on the vacuum side or boost side.

put the stock air box in , got a breather air box, and and tightened up the WGA arm a bit.
w/ the downpipe closed Im spiking 18, holding 15 till about 5k then it drops to 13. a/f's were 10.9-11.1.
w/ the downpipe open Im spiking closer to 19, holding in the 16's (16.6 to 16.0) till 5.5k then it drops off to 13/14 a/f's were 11.8-12.2 (getting about as lean as I wanna be on 91 octane)

big thanks to josh for the stock air box. cant wait to put a 255 walbro in there and boost 18. I might come out on the 28th. I will be working this weekend, so if I do, it will likely be for only a little while.
