Default Anyone in Utah looking to go fast?

And when I say fast, I mean FAST!

I gotta tell you guys, the SRT scene here in Utah is rather boring! A bunch of stock turbo Neons (Yeah, that's right! I said Neons!) with minor bolt-ons to include:

WGAs, BOVs, Exhaust, Intake, oh...and don't forget the BOVs! And did I forget to mention blow off valves?

Guys, this stuff will do only so much! You MIGHT make it to a 14 flat in the 1/4 (even though that's fully attainable with a bone stock car). You need to think outside of the box. Look into some bigger turbo setups! Don't waste your time and money on the stock p.o.s. I've been there and done that, and trust me. I wish I'd never wasted the money on the stock turbo.

Now, before anyone gets all pissed off and thinks I'm a dick, let me go ahead and remind you. I know that the ability to go fast is greatly dependent on how much money a person can afford to throw at their car. And in times like these, cars are not exactly the number 1 priority on everyone's list.

But there are ways of getting things done cheaper. Learn how to do it yourself. Trust me, I would never have made it as far as I have if I were to rely on someone else to do my wrench turning and tuning. But understand, I am completely self taught. I have had no formal training in the art of tuning, and mechanic work is something I've done as a hobby for years.

What I'm getting at is, those of you who really want to go fast but don't have the money to pay someone else to set it all up for ya, don't get discouraged. Go out and do some research! Read, read, read, read, and practice! Talk to knowledgeable people who have been there and done that. The web is full of all the information you'd ever need to figure out how to do things.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation out there, also. So sift through the B.S., and read up on the same subject from MULTIPLE sources. Find out what has worked, and what has resulted in failure, and go from there!

If there is anyone out there wanting to run an EMS, and you want to get the absolute most out of your setup, get in touch with me. I have been tuning my own car with the AEM EMS for around 2 years, now. If you don't know what I've accomplished, search some of my threads, and you'll see. And I'm definitely not done, yet! There is much more to come.

I was just out at the track yesterday, and was tuning 2 different SRTs with the AEM EMS. And from the time we started running to the last pull for each SRT, we picked up 4 mph from each car by adjusting fueling and timing alone. Boost was untouched on both cars. And if we'd had the option to make any adjustments to boost on the car that had more turbo left in it (one car the turbo was maxed out, the other, the fuel system was maxed out), we'd have very easily seen another 10+ mph out of it! That's HUGE when speaking of a car's potential!

I'm looking for something exciting to tune, guys! Somebody that has too much money needs to get their dirty little mitts on a turbo that is capable of flowing at the minimum 65 lbs/min (mid 600 HP potential). Get in touch with me, and we'll get this thing to move out!

There's my call out to all my fellow Utahns!

HAHAHAHAHA!

I'm just so bored out here! Serious! Even the cars I was tuning this weekend were not anything extreme. One is on a S3 turbo with AEM EMS controlling it, and the other is a 50 trim with AEM EMS, but only enough fuel to boost to 17psi.

Neither of them are in the 11's, yet (partly due to driver error/inexperience).

I just want some excitement out here, especially while my car is down and I'm waiting on parts!

I hear that. I think the SRT scene in general is just starting to die. The NSRT-4 can be had for ungodly cheap prices nowadays which allows much younger, cheaper people to buy them. In the past year alone I've seen countless people sell/trade in their SRT's and I've met so many new owners. Most of the new owners being under 21 years old and broke.

It's quite saddening to see the lack of progress of the SRT scene over the past couple years. A few years ago I would attend meets every weekend where there were 20+ SRT's and MULTIPLE 400+ hp SRT's. Nowadays we struggle to get 10 SRT's together to have a meet once every few months.

Very sad, yet very true! It's gotten almost as bad as Civics were about 8 years ago! Everyone has one, and they all have the exact same (almost useless) mods.

It almost makes me wish I had gone with a different platform from the start (like an Evo, for instance). The amount of aftermarket support for the Evos is astounding to say the least. And the number of people that build them (and by build, I mean going all out) far outweighs the amount of people that build the SRTs, it seems.

In any event, I hope this thread starts a fire under someone's ass, and they decide they want to go out and prove something!

I'm in SLC, UT. According to google maps, you'd need to drive about 700 miles (approx. 11 hrs).

Same shit out here in Cali.. I remember when we had our weekly meet with 25+ SRTs showing up every time.. one time we had 32 show up in the god damned rain.. Now we have a meet out here, unless it's full on BBQ with free food.. Nobodys showing up. I gave up on the old days of meets and good times,.. it's back to how it was before the SRT.

Pffft. You have to at least hit a 10.99 before you get to call out an entire state
