Thinking of moving

Hey S/SE section,

The wife and I are talking about moving to NC or SC within the next 2 to 3 years and buying another house. Any suggestions on where I should look thats a decent driving distance from a 1/4mile track and the beach/coast? How's the weather and schools and stuff too?

hellz yea welcome to the sotheast,the weather is almost always nice I lived in sc/nc and they are both real nice places to live they both got there pro and cons.but if you don't want to worry about state inspections and emissions on your car go to sc they don't have any unlike nc. your in race country now as far as 1/4 drag strips you got rockingham dragway,bristol motor speedway in tenn and nc,and soon to come to lowes motor speedway in concord,nc just north of charlotte, they say it should be done the end of this year.And SC there are two that I know of carloina dragway in agusta,ga(it's in sc)about an hour from columbia,sc and darlington dragway at the speedway(heard this is pretty good.It's in darlington,SC(about an hour from columbia,sc).
P.S there alot of good 1/8 mile tracks in NC and SC too.wlecome to the southeast

Cost of living is going to kill you if you want to be close to the beach. Depending on what you can afford I'm not sure I'd recommend Charleston. Some of the houses here are insanely priced and are hardly worth the $200k+ price tag.

jen and i figured in the cost of living, we're actually sitting on and continuing to build a pretty big nest-egg. we currently own our condo in MA. my car would be paid off before we got down there. i'd expect a hit to my pay but if the mortgage was mostly paid off :shrugs: that's the thing tho, in MA $200k doesn't get you very much so when you see 14,16,1800 sq-ft homes with lots of land, it makes it hard to resist but we def will continue our research.
