Hey dude, you should pic a specific day when you are doing this cause I live in az and I think it would cool to make a road trip over there. I have the 17-23 off, and I can use vacation to get another week off before or after that. If you come up with a specific day, than I will concider going.

The Dragon has been my weekly sanity-drive for several years now. A good radar detector and a large dose of common sense are both essential for a dragon run. The law enforcement has gotten tougher and tougher over the past couple of years. Lots of first-time riders/drivers going way past their limits and that of their car/bike. Local and State LEO's are notorius for ticketing the locals and letting the out-of-towners go with warnings since a ticket on the dragon is a mandatory court appearance. I've been lucky and never gotten a ticket on the dragon (yet). It used to be you could have a little fun on the way in even if the law enforcement was thick on the dragon itself. No more...state LEO likes to set up on the way in. There is a church on the left, probably 2-3 miles after turning off the main drag they like to set up at and a couple miles further in, in the middle of some switchbacks. I like to go early Saturday mornings. I miss 90% of the traffic and the law enforcement. A Recon-run is usually a good idea. Make a run nice and slow, paying attention to where the presence is. That way when you come back the other way, you know where you can go and where you gotta slow.
TAILOFTHEDRAGON.COM is probably the best source of information. I am so looking forward to this. Us locals have waited a very long time for a SRT run to organize. Anyone up for a pre-emptive strike this weekend?

i'd go...but us LEO have the shitty schedules and i gotta work days over the weekend.
If we do the run during the weekdays we should be ok as far as getting tickets and stuff, i'm gonna see who's working patrol up there whenever we get a specific date going.

^^Thats cool!^^ But still that should not give anybody the right to be a douch.
Can't wait. I need to go more often, but the LEO has kept me from the place. Don and I made a run right before the restaurant closed and it was nice. Go EARLY and you do miss 90% of the traffic and cops.
Hopefully some of the guys locally will show up this time. Seems like everytime we try to get together here, too many people say they will be there and do not show. And please if you come don't be under the influence!
Also a key is NOT TO STOP IN THE TURNS!!! hint hint Adam...

May Go to this. My car should be all setup suspension wise by then. How far is this from Roanoke VA. or 24502? Cause I have a bunch of SRT-4 Buddies that would love to go to this. and some non srt-4 buddies that would love to go.

This is true, I will regulate personally if this is the case...bring the taser!
Now that I think about it, i know most of the troopers and blount county deputies that work this...we'll be ok, as long as we save driving like maniacs till we get past the dragon.
Once you get on 81, you are looking at 250 miles to knoxville, then another hour or so (2-lane roads, traffic and lights) to the dragon. Barring any major traffic fubar's, you could get to knoxville in a little unter 4 hours. I'm sure we will meet up locally before heading to the gap.
