Default NC emissions?

Hey guys, i was wondering how strict the north carolina emissions testing is? Or if they even have it? I'm from Florida and have NC as one of my potential locations to move to, but i dont wanna have to change my setup just to drive around up there. Florida has 0 emissions control, which is nice.

Any info appretiated. Charlotte is the city of choice we're looking at.

whats your setup,If you have stage1 and not throwing any codes you should be alright with the machine. As long as they don't do visual, but its kinda hit and miss where you go if they visually check for no cat.

If your not throwing a check engine light passing the machine part is no problem. Not every shop will do a visual inspection, even though there supposed to. Your supposed to have a cat and window tint can't be below 32% for cars and it can't drop below the ASI line on the window.

Not every county has emissions. Which county are you considering?

Hey I will be going to Goldsboro, not sure what county that is, but what is the deal with Tint? I have really dark tint on the back 3 windows and very light tint on the front driver and passenger side. Then a 6" band across the front windshield.

I know I talked to a big turbo guy from NC and he said that he never had a problem. As long as you have a cat and aren't throwing any codes you should be fine.

I know a guy that has been good to me over the years here in Charlotte (not my first tuner car that isn't exactly street legal) with a car as new as yours you can't have any CEL's as long as you don't have one, you can get your window sticker from him, he likes me sending him the business

PS Charlotte is a pretty cool place to live, I'd recommend it

If he is willing to look at my car and pass it, I am willing to make the 6 hr round trip to get my car passed.

if you have stage2 with toys or stage3 computer you will need the code scrubber sold by phrozen on here to pass the inspection - there are 2 or 3 codes that are stored that do not throw a CEL but will fail the inspection. Visual inspection is a joke here... i have my fucking o2 sensor tie wrapped to the frame and a blink person could see it and they still pass me...

ive also had a mustang with all 4 cats off of it and straight piped and they looked under the car and still passed it...

they do however shit a brick when they see window tint - they make sure to get their extra $10 on top of the $30 even for legal window tint...they even tell me every time i go in that my tint is illegal just by looking at it and its 35% and they feel like dumbasses when they put the meter on it

LOL, nice. Well that gives me hope. I have S2 no toys so no auto trans CEL. Just the No SKIM Key loaded. I think it is P0633. I think I can get that loaded by the dealership there and get rid of that code.

Sweet. Keeps getting better and better. Do they stick anything in the tail pipe and measure anything?

thats cool. Sounds like I shouldn't have a problem then even with a big turbo and some 750cc injectors.

As long as you're not throwing a CEL, you'll be ok. They don't do tail pipe sniffers in NC... yet.
