BTR that was me on my way to work to pick up my drivers license. I had left it at work earlier in the day.. and since I was going out to the bar that night I had to take the drive down to pick it up.

I was just cruising down when I spotted your friends Red srt-4. I couldn't see any exhaust tips so I figured he probably had a side exit and when I got closer on his (6) I could see that he was running some digital gauges on his A pillar.. So, I figured that he had to be a big turbo srt.. Your friend has a real nice looking car man.. and it sounded really good!

I pulled along side to give him.. because I never see any modded srt's in my area. I asked him if he was big turbo and he told me he was running a 50 trim, he then asked me what I was running and I told him Stage 3. My intentions were not to run him but to give him some props on a very nice ride but then your friend did a short pull past me.. man that car sounded serious, I just love the sound that 50 trim made when the turbo stated spooling! Anyways, he slowed down next to me and made a gesture for a friendly run. I hardly ever run the car hard but it was a big turbo srt and I could not pass up the offer. I will say this your friends car was at a disadvantage weight wise because he had two passengers, that alone probably made his car 300lbs to 350 lbs heavier then mine because I was riding solo.

On our first pull I totally jumped the gun.. .. so we had to line up again. This time your friend told me he was going to beep three times. I waited for the third beep and we were GONE.. I was running non-hom on dab-2 at the time, again I had a definite advantage due to the weight factor that's why the out come turned out the way it did. I definitely think that if he had less weight in the car it would have been a interesting run.

Hey can you ask him how much boost he was running that night and what type of whp numbers he is putting down? By the way tell him I said he has a nice ride and it sounds bad ass..

yeah dude I dont think my friend was too happy about the outcome of that race

well yeah he did have the disadvantage (he had 2 passengers, a dog, and a bunch of stuff in the trunk) but my other friend said your car pulled like a biach, he was amazed just how quickly the S3 spooled and was outa there like a bat out of hell.

I'll let the owner of the car chime in on this thread (he's a pretty well known member on here )

he was either boosting 18 or 22 and he's never been to a dyno.

that was me

like rich said, i had a TON of weight in the car.... after i lost i was trying to see how i lost to a stage 3 but i guess 750-800 lbs in the car will do it lol. we were on our way down to NJ and i had a stereo system along with a ton of my ex's clothes & a little bureau thing in teh trunk.

seriously though, stage 3 impressed me a LOT more than i thought it would. now i actually have respect for stage 3 youre car is sick & pulls like a bastard. stage 3 may put down less power than other big turbo's but that quick spool is effing amazing.

btw, i have a 50 trim(like i said on the hwy) and all supporting mods @ about 18psi... just so you have an idea

LOL..i was the one on the back seat, and do00d, i had never seen a S3 in action before and it was simply amazing, very, very impressive because everytime i looked specs about it i thought "3700$$"..for 350 hp..., but after seeing your car run, i see things differently now..lol
yea i wonder waht the outcome would've been if it was just you two racing 1 on 1....btw..your car sounds sick and silent(compared to open dump)..im assuming borla exhaust?

Man I never thought it was a srtforums member I ran into that night! I mean I read your post all the time in the NE section uncommon..

It's to bad you had that much weight in the car. It would have been nice to run your 50 trim on a level playing field. In all honesty I don't consider that nights run a win because of the weight factor with your car.

Thanks for the complements on the s3 uncommon.. Let me give some background on the car. The S3 is actually a modified big wheel S3 setup, it has a 49lbs per minute Garret comp wheel, turbine clip, pnp on the exhaust manifold, compressor housing outlet port and its ceramic coated. That car pulls extremely hard out of the hole and with the addition of the Garret comp wheel etc. the car has very good mid to top end power as well. This is the same turbo set up ptc01 is running on his car now.

Hey we should hook up next season so I can check out your setup and maybe you can take me for a ride in that beast..

Thanks man.. When I decided to modify the car I wanted to do it with parts that would give the car somewhat of a sleeper or stock look.

That is why I bought a direct fit ic to maintain that stock appearance but with much better performance then the stocker. On the exhaust front I wanted a tb exhaust that was going to have very good flow characteristics but also be extremely quiet again going for that sleeper look. So, I decided on going with the Perrin 3 inch tb exhaust. I even have the stock surge valve hooked up along with my hks bov. The cool thing about that is if I change gears while not in boost or in low boost levels you won't ever hear the bov go off. It only goes off when I want it to that is when I change gears under higher boost levels..

hells yeah, we should definitely meet up sometime. i've never gotten a chance to run a stage 3 on the street or at the track... i wouldnt' mind getting a ride in one either... that quick spool will definitely help you win some races, especially against some of us with big turbos... your car made my car look like it had a t67 under the hood LOL.

btw, where are you from? i think we saw you in NY...not sure though bc we were using the navi to get to NJ...what state were we in when we ran into you? didn't u used to be from CT?

weight would not help him if you were only running DAB-2 on non-HOM, he should be scared if you run him on DAB-3 in HOM...I'm not knocking the 50 trim but people always under estimate S3...I can't wait to get mine and this is a very nice post guys

awesome, sounds like a plan to me

to the poster that posted up about s3's being underestimated- i couldn't agree with you any more. s3 kicks ass... if that was only dab2, i couldn't even imagine dab 3... his car hauled some major fucking ass. btw, where did you get this upgraded wheel that you speak of? if you dont want to post it, please pm it to me if you dont mind.... i've secrectly considered switching to s3 for a couple months now bc of the fuel/tuning problems i've had with my car that i would NOT have run in with stage 3... seeing your car pull that hard made me like the idea even more....

i was thinking too if i sold all my mod's for my 50 trim that i wouldn't need with stage 3, i would end up making more $$ in the end after selling everything- even if i got this upgraded wheel or even the DCR ramp & port mod.
