Have any of you Southern Maryland guys seen the black Supra TT that cruises up and down Rt. 235 with a really young guy driving? I’ve seen him now a couple times. Today I ran into him while I was driving the Viper. I had a chance to make 2 little runs with him.
First run was from about a 35mph roll in 2nd gear. Within a few seconds, I had about 5-6 car lengths on him. Shortly after shifting to 3rd, I was on the brakes hard because of heavy traffic in front. With that much distance on him, it’s hard to say whether I was still pulling away but I will say that 3rd gear is the strongest gear in the Viper. It’s not till 3rd that I can get solid traction.
Second run was from about a 15mph roll in 2nd gear. Once again, it didn’t take long to have significant distance on him and once again, I was on the brakes hard right after shifting to 3rd.
I’m well aware that lots of Supra TT’s can beat a stock Viper but it doesn’t look like his is one of them. A Viper has an unfair advantage over turbo cars cause of all the torque it has at low RPM. A Viper pulls hard instantly at any RPM in any gear. Last weekend I drove a C5 with mild mods. In comparison to the Viper, that C5 felt like my Focus. It just doesn’t pull until 3500 – 4000rpm. There’s no doubt this guy’s TT is pretty fast and he probably has no problem spanking Vettes but a Vette is no Viper.
I wonder if this guy is one of Chess’ “local crew” who talks Viper smack?? Anyway – to any of those guys in that crew who talk Viper smack, bring it on. I’m not afraid of loosing. It’s all about havin’ fun cause it’s impossible to ever have the “fastest” car.
Hey Chess – I didn’t make it down to the Tiki Bar today. There was just nowhere to park and I would have had to leave the car well out of site. Under many circumstances that’s fine but not today with all the routy folks on the island.
I know who he is... he runs 12.8 supposely at the track. he just got it out of the shop, and he has a FMIC on it, he is about 20 or 21 years old.... its a black one around here to that has plates that are from GUAM.... I havent raced him since he put his mods on him, but i have beat the green evo that was around here, not saying much but the green evo beat him, so we shall see.....

I was at tiki last night was INSANE
That time of 12.8 sounds dead-on for that particular TT. The 12.8 would make it slightly faster than most C5’s yet almost a full second slower than a stock SRT-10. That’s consistent with what I saw today in terms of how fast I was able to put distance on him. Skilled SRT-10 drivers are reporting ¼ miles times of 11.8-11.9 at 123-124mph with a stock setup. I’m not yet skilled at driving an SRT-10 but going from a roll in 2nd gear is almost a no-brainer. I just have to be careful when passing thru 4000rpm in 2nd gear. That’s when the backend likes to break loose with no warning.
I also believe there are 2 black Supra TT’s cruising around because I saw one on Pax River the other day. Perhaps that’s the one with the GUAM tags. The one I ran with today had no base decals so the one I saw on-base had to be different. I’ve also seen that green EVO. Pretty ugly.
In terms of IM – I don’t have any. The computer I use at home is the same laptop that I use for work. We are not allowed to install IM’s on our company owned computers. Almost as good for me is email. I have my email opened from the time I get home to the time I leave for work. jconjura@netcogov.com
I call BS there's no way your Viper is beating a TT.
Yes I am joking. lol
Man – I’m getting ragged on even on the SRT Forum!!
Anyway, there are tons of folks out there with TT’s and other stuff who think beating up on Vettes means your ready to keep pace with Vipers. Well, today there’s a particular TT driver who found out there’s a big gap between Vettes and Vipers. Lots of folks don’t realize how big that gap is.
I have raced a few vettes and vipers at the track on private days and I must say that the vipers are typically faster than the vettes. Stock for stock or mod for mod the viper will kill a vette. I have beaten vipers from a dig when it came down to them spinning 3/4 of the way down the track. I took a c6 vette the other day which was pretty cool.
If your running 12.2 then you can easily take a Viper. Like I said, skilled Viper drivers are running 11.8-11.9. There’s no way an unskilled Viper driver like myself would be able to run 12.2. I’d be happy if I ran 12.5.
The crazy thing about racing guys w/ more power is they start reeling you in at the end and it makes for an awesome adrenalin rush. "Can I hold him off, or will he catch me" is what I think about when racing any car w/ more power. That part is really what I love about racing.
Hey, cool, didn't know you were a member of the boards.. I raced you in my Mach! I think you missed a gear on the first run and then on the last one I missed it a gear... That thing's fuckin' quick

You're right. I missed 3rd on that first run because I was startled by my shift light. Vipers have a built-in shift light in the dash and that was the first time I had ever seen it go off. Startled me and caused me to miss 3rd. What's in that Mach? That thing sounds wild.
I saw a blue Mach at the Navy Exchange on Pax a couple weeks ago. It had a blower so loud you could hear it 100 yards away. I don't remember hearing a blower on yours.
