Once again, I have no clue where a good place to put this would be, but here goes. I just sold some old parts off of my Sentra and ordered myself a STS from Maddog last night. It should be here in about 2 weeks. I'm so excited I can hardly contain it. The only experience I've ever had w/ a short shifter was a short shift adapter plate on my old Civic coupe (yeah, yeah, I know ) and I've read nothing but praise about these shifters so I felt it was the best choice, especially considering the rod brake that he has built in. And no, I did not buy bushings because I read that aftermarket bushings were too stiff w/ the 80%. Still need to pick up an MPx aluminum shift knob for it though...should be ordering it this weekend!
Moral of this story: It doesn't pay to have old auto parts hanging around when they could be put to much better use

Yeah Maddog are good shifters, but I think the 80% reduction is too much, I think 58% is more than enough. Anyways as for the Shift ball from modern, I have it, it's a good shift ball it looks bling when it's brand new and it won't come out for nothing ounce you screw it in. The only thing that sux about the ball is that I bought it during winter time, and now it's hitting 90s down here South Mia, so that damn metal ball gets hot as shit, and is a bitch to handle untill I turn on the a/c aside from that since it's that shiny metal, it has dulled out with scratches left and right n it doesn't look as nice as when it was new and it's only been 8 months. The new Shift ball I'm looking into is this one, is abit pricy but matches with the interior of the car. eBay Motors: MOMO Race Airleather Aluminum Leather Shift Knob Knobs (item 330005391489 end time Jun-26-08 12:20:36 PDT)

I recommend a pizzaboy shift ball. I have it on my 80% maddog shifter and it shifts smooth as butter.
I've seen a bunch of people rave about pizzaboy's shift knobs, but I thought he stopped making them?

It seems that a majority of people that go w/ the 58% have their cars as daily drivers. Mine's my weekend/autox car, so I anticipate no problems w/ it being too short/firm .

Thankfully, I park my car in the garage and out of the sun, and I always let it warm up prior to diriving, so no worries about the shift knob getting too cold/hot. Also, the shift knob on my Sentra is leather wrapped and that sucker gets freakin' melt-your-hand hot if it sits in the sun for too long, so I think that it's probably unavoidable no matter what material the shifter is made of
Yeah, I just noticed. Totally getting one of them instead. Too bad my network here at work blocks about 90% of images, I can't see any in his group buy thread, but I'm sure they all look awesome.
ON TOPIC: to the original poster, you do NOT want a aluminum shift ball on a 80% sts it will be notchy as hell, go with stainless steel it will be a million times easier to shift that bad boy 80% with all the added weight......and that goes for whatever vendor you buy one from:

Haha...Word. Two things though...is stainless heavier than regular steel? I woudln't imagine so...I ask because I'd def. get it powder coated (c'mon, like I'm really gonna buy it from anyone but you ). Second, there is no second. I just need to decide what color I want my ball to be
