Default Emission Questions

so i get pulled over today cuz my registration was suspended cuz they said i needed to take emissions.

so can i pass emissions with an aftermarket BOV? i have the HKS on jmb pipe.

and i have a catless exhaust but i dont throw any codes, does that matter? or am i gonna need to have to switch back to stock?

all depends on the place you take it too....a bov they are not gonna look for and dont care about....the catless part is iffy....im about to take my car too and i threw the stock exhaust on just in case....

if they really wanted to pick my car apart i have an aftermarket turbo, open dump, no intake, fuel return line, an oil leak because i cant get the exhaust depo windage tray to seal properly with the motor in the car, and all that stuff which is all a visual fail but most of them dont care and just run it thru plug the computer up and as long as there is no codes just say you passed have a nice day

catless exhaust will fail the visual IF the state requires it, you'll still pass the actual emissions check (sniffer) with no cat.

Just ask around your local area, shady or "dirty" emissions shops are more common then big turbo swaps on srt-4's.

just swing by one and ask the grimeyest mechanic the reaks the most of keystone/nati light how many 6 packs it'll take to get a dirty slip.

they will supposably fine you upwards of 10 grand for not having a cat on a vehical.....i have yet to see it happen....i got threatened once when my old sr20det sentra was shooting flames on every down shift but he just wrote me ticket for an unlawfully modified exhaust system....no points 120 dollar fine

and james here in maryland you dont take them to a mechanic there is a emissions station you bring it too.....so there is no real way around it......and 1996 and newer cars they do not do a sniffer test anymore.....all they do is plug the car to a obd-II scanner and check for codes but they do look under the car with a mirror but only on some cars

A resonator is NOT a catalytic converter... and mechanics KNOW that. Moreover, it CANT be where the catalytic converter used to be. Your catalytic converter sits about 3 inches from your turbo, that resonator sits in the middle of your exhaust setup. You will NOT pass a visual emmissions test without a catalytic converter. Unless you know someone who says you took it off after he looked at it. Ya know what i mean. i know i live in pa and my state requires all that shit... i know like someone else said, the blow off valve isn't a big issue, no mechanic really cares about that, but you WILL NOT PASS A VISUAL EMMISSIONS TEST WITHOUT A CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
