My friend and i were bored late night and he would always talk about racing me and how he would take me by a couple car lengths so i called him out on it one night and he said lets go. Enjoy.
I am not really trying to knock on the civic but how much time and money went into that to get it to about the same performance that you have stock. You both seem pretty evenly matched. So the supercharger brought him from about 200 bhp if it is the newer type r hatch to about 230 whp. that isn't a bad increase in power since you are talking about 172 whp stock to 230 whp with the SC. But with the correct bolt-ons for your SRT-4 and some decent tune, you would demolish that civic.
What SC is it on the civic? Jackson or Jacksonville, whatever???
Does it cool the air intake at all? I know when I was looking at it since a guy over here had SC'd his UK spec civic and thought could take me, I looked it up and it really didn't look like it was worth the money spent on it to beat an SRT-4 lightly modded, which I wasn't at the time either, I was moderately modded (mods in my sig). I saw that you could get the kit with something to cool the air or not, depending on if you did determined if you would get another 10-15 hp out of the kit I think.
i know what you mean they spend all this money on thier cars and its not even close to as fast as SRT-4s or they BARELY beat us. i love it here around the bay all the ricers try to mess with me and i let my bov off and its done.
That is what I thought. I know I looked at it originally to see if the guy would be able to beat me with my S2 setup and after looking at it, figured unless he had a bunch of other stuff done to the car and was a god at driving there would be no way he would beat me. Wasn't worth my gas to race him then.
Another guy had an older version Tiberon that was either SC'd or Turbo'd, I think turbo'd, but could get it to run reliably to race it. He could drive around but not race, which makes it completely useless.
I know a guy that put down over 600+ whp on his Supra on a dyno over here and barely got a 12.8 at our track. I pull between 12.3 - 12.5 on my setup and I am only around 330 whp. I think his turbo is too big so it makes huge power, but the power band is so bad, that by the time the turbo is effective, the 1/4 mile race is over. It is like having a car that only has top end power, but no low end or mid range power.
wtf 600whp? and only ran a 12.8? my brother has a 01 z06 and its stock except for suspension and he ran a 12.6.
yeah i was actually lookin at the DCR twin turbo set up and i liked how it looked. but im think imma just get a new stock turbo and get some supporting mods; boost controller,cai,3" exhaust etc. then ill decide wether imma go 50trim or twin turbo, i have a lot of research to do. but honestly i've been look to get around 300-400hp and ill be happy. i want this to be my daily driver, how do you like the S2? pros/cons?
I would say to go with a 50 trim with a .45ar turbine if you want fast spool and hard hitting power up to about 400whp. Above that will be a stuggle but it will be great for a street/DD car.
I like my S2. Made tuning the car much easier over my S1 and I refuse to go back to S0 and deal with the CELs all the time.
car seems to run smoother, I get less issues with Knock Retard with the 3 bar map/tip than I did with the stockers, the injectors worked well for the time being for providing fuel but I will need larger soon. Plus I just decided to go big turbo so the timing maps for S2 will be pretty good for a bigger turbo. Bigger turbos usually want less timing since they flow more air.
Alot of people say it is useless and pointless, but I am happy with it.
Yeah, I think it was either a crappy tune, poor choice on turbo so even though the end result was 600+whp the power curve sucked, or really bad traction with that amount of power.
That is all I can come up with. I want a strong power curve all the way through and not too worried about being a dyno queen. If my track times say I am fast, that is all I care about. I don't need the little chart from a dyno to say I make 500 whp. I would rather have a time slip that says low 11's.
yeah i know what you mean, i mean yeah ill go to the dyno and check how much im pushing but when i go to the track and see what my times are thats when ill be really happy haha. i saw your car on cardomain and its reaally clean, im not a fan of stripes but dam it looks pretty dam good on your car. i think i will go with the 50trim its what i been wanting. thanks for the info
Thanks man for the compliment. I have worked hard on her to make it look clean and intimidating but mainly clean. Same I want to get on an American Dyno when I get back to the states and see how much I am making powerwise. When I did my dyno over here the first time I was very disappointed in the power I made. With my S2 setup and some other bolt-ons I expected 270-28X whp from the car and I basically was told that I made 287 brake horse power. That is barely an increase over stock. It is basically 252 whp. I have learned alot though since then and I think it is also because S2 is not a dyno queen PCM. But it is great for the track and for DD and that is what I mostly wanted.
Yeah, the 50 trim I think is the best street turbo next to S3. I want to be able to push the power up more than that later though so I went a different route but the 50 trim should give you the power and torque you are looking for. More power than S3 and good power curve.
wait holup.... what yr hatch? a hatch with a supercharger and a b18c5 should put down at LEAST 210 whp which is more than enough to rape a stock srt. thats worst case scenario. those cars dont weight much. the heaviest hatch is at 2300 pounds which is 500 pounds lighter than an srt4.
i think it was a 99? im not sure. its a ek-9 so yeah, he put everything on himself and put some other things in there but i not sure what. i think he was boosting 8-10lbs.

210hp hatch with kia rio tq #s from a roll..drivers race from a dig the honda has the advantage but still is a drivers race.. like the op if he shifted quicker he would have walked him
