Here is a video of myself and my 2003 Neon SRT-4 Racing with a Spec Miata on the Driveway Austin track in Austin Texas. The Spec Miata is on shaved Toyo RA1's. My Neon is on full tread Falken RT-215's. My Neon has 40000 miles on it. This track has many configurations.
The track in the video is called Level 2. The full course lap is 2.2 miles so far one car there has reached 152 mph on the back stretch.
These Neons are not bad on a real road course. When you view the video be sure to click on "watch in high quality"
nice driving...if i may comment at some points you were too fixated on following the miata's line which wasnt entirely bad except hes RWD and you are FWD so obviously i think after a few laps you realized you had to make your own edits to his line at which point you were finally ready to pass him.

We agreed that I would not to pass til later on in the session to get more video of something in front to make the video more fun to watch. Neon was 1.5 seconds a lap faster. I was moving over a bit just incase a mistake was made.
I am an SCCA racer. SSB Class Mazda Miata which I do not fit in my legs are too long. I have also instructed since the 1980's for Bob Bondurant.
Odd question but what are the specs on the Miata? Is he as qualified a driver as you? I know those things handle like mad but aren't really that impressive on the go side?
Love watching road race vids, I may never get a chance to even attempt to drive like that but it always makes me smile when I see someone that does!

"The Cobalt firmly grabs you and whisks you along your way instantly. It does so with authority and poise, but while slipping relatively unnoticed through traffic, never being violent, or dare I say it, frightening. When you ask the SRT-4 to take you somewhere fast, it punches you in the face, throws you over its shoulder, and runs, screaming, so quickly that its tires can barely keep up."
I did the "One Lap of America Driving School" at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex. I have Stage 2 and was amazed how well those SM cars can run with only 104 HP or so. My instructor said it's all about keeping the momentum going (driver skill) and not necessarly using brute HP. A skilled SM driver can routinely pass novice Viper drivers.
