That argument you've been trying to prove about being cheap is not that important to most. It's great for a 18 year old kid out of high school who's mom gives him a 20k limit for the car there gonna buy him. And can't afford to mod a real sports car. But it doesn't matter to people who drive nice cars. Maybe that's why you guys think so highly for the SRT-4/neon whatever you wanna call it. I've owned like 8 cars now. So this by any means isn't my first car. I have my own house, I have a wife, I have a degree, and many other things.
Go to another forum if your trying to recruit some owners to your S2K bandwagon. I rather own a FI car then a N/A car. I've owned both and nothing beats the kick of FI. The problem is people down the SRT-4 before even taking the time to even drive one yet a lone own one.
My wife didn't like the car for nothing. Neon this, Neon that... I hate the way it looks... blah blah. She drove it and fell in love with it. There's a lot of owners now that would say the samething... they didn't like the car at first until they drove one and bought one. Problem is your quick to judge and I can tell by your last post. A low blow is a Honda needing Vtec to actually try to keep up with any car... at your 5,5xxk when your Vtec kicks in I'm soon going to be shifting and I've already been boosting. Oh... how sweet it is.
The reason I don't believe you as much is because I've raced all types of Honda's and Acura's. I've yet to have one beat me and what I find funny about the whole thing is I let them down shift and get the hit first then I go. Sure, there's some fast one's out there but I've yet to run into any so its a very slim chance I will. The car looks nice, sure, but why on earth did you go with a car that you have to drive like you hate it to get a decent time out of it stock? Yeah, I love revving the shit out of my daily-driven S2K and dropping the clutch on it just to get a decent 0-60 and 1/4-mile time. And if money doesn't matter to you, why not get something like an M Roadster?
FACT: The S2K and SRT-4s run similiar times stock.
FACT: The SRT-4 costs TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS LESS NEW.
FACT: The potential and modability of the SRT-4 blows away the S2k.

The 3 S2K's I've ran were modded and I put a few cars on them. To me, the ones I ran into, are slow. There not anything special. I've ran a boosted RSX before, 2 NA RSX's with bolt-ons, few Civics here and there with bolt-ons and so fourth. Seems like every Honda wants a piece and if I take the bite I'm wasting gas so it seems. I've yet to run into a Honda/Acura worth running.
You must have decent amount done to your car for it to beat a boosted K-series.
I used to have a 1992 Honda Prelude Si. I had the J-spec H22A in it with boltons, stripped rear interior, coilovers, and the almighty Falken Azenis RT215s. I beat an 04 SRT-4 with BOV, and no cats. From a stop to about 110mph I had 1 car length on him. It was a good race. BTW I had the F22A Accord trans on the block. LONGER gears. (2nd gear banged 80mph, 3rd-113mph, I would limit out in 4th because my ECU was a governed P13) I also raced an AP1 with dual N1's and some more mods, and pulled him too haha. I have no idea how though. I think I had a factory freak of a powerplant.
I also raced an SRT-4 from a 2nd gear roll and I lost by a car up to 119mph.... So in response to your post about wasting gas on Hondas, that was ignorant as shit dude. You obviously haven't raced a properly done one, with a good driver. I'm used to DBAG Neon owners, but the ones I raced were pretty cool. The one I beat gave me props but kind of seemed more interested to boast about his car a tad still. The one I lost to, said damn man that shit is fast good race. And I've gotten beat very badly by several Hondas around my Area, N/A and F/I.
I had an SRT-4 for a few months, I sold it and bought a 1979 Civic CVCC. 1,500lbs with full interior. I think I will dedicate my REAR plates to SRT-4's...relax, as a joke. And then have antique ones on the front.
You may want to rethink your outlook because it is extremely run faster than an SRT even with the same bolt on mods. It's easy for me at least since I've been building Hondas for years.. WE are FI, Motor BUILT for FI, We have the advantage.
Basic mods give us greater gains while N/As need MORE and MORE bolt ons/or engine work.
