Default Darooke's srt-4 at idle

I have a dcr option b motor (that DRT racing built) crower stage2 cams DCR race head and more goodies. This is my car at idle. I just finished installing everything last night. It was a late night. Thanks to Tune Time performance, N2MB, DRT racing and all my friends that helped me!

Your break in should consist of hammering on it the first 20 miles then change the oil. After that it's broke in. So you should have track times by tomorrow.

Ah, ok.

Well, unless you're running cast iron rings from days of old,(which is where the 500 mile break in myth started) you don't need to break it in. Now a days we use moly rings, they pretty much seat right away. As for your valve seats, they seat within a few miles. Machine parts don't "wear in". When I bought my srt, I hammered on it on the way home, changed the oil and went racing that night. My dads srt was baybied for the 1st 500 miles and broke in per manufactures specs and up till the day I pulled my motor to build it, my compression numbers were better than his number because of better valve and ring seating from the get go.

Here's a little article that you can read to learn something new.

Warning:
This is a very controversial topic !!

I quoted the first sentence.

This is not my first motor and I broke in all off motors the same way. I run it easy with bursts of acceleration in all gears, for the first 500 miles. The only engine failure i ever had was a bad oil pump. It also helps me sleep better at night when my engine builder,DCR and AMS all believe the same.

Thanks for the info and a different point of view.

PS. here is break in instructions on ams's web sight.
