Any good HKS SSQ bov clips - Page 2 - SRT Forums

Not buying a bov for the sound. If i wanted sound I would just keep the turbo xs I have now. However, due to the design of the hks and how it almost never leaks I chose it. It is already bought and should arrive monday. I am just curious as what to expect and didn't like the chirping thing too much.

Might want to get the purple insert then. Doesn't have the whistly sound to it.

hey quixilver, I also have the hks ssq with a purple insert, and I was wondering what's the difference between that one and the gold insert?

The purple insert make a more "rushed air" kinda' noise (similar to the RFL)...

The gold insert makes a more "whistle/high pitched" kinda' noise (similar to the Type S)...

My chick cousin got in my car and when I let it blow off real loud she's like "oooo, that wasn't supposed to happen..didn't you just miss a gear?"

WhiteRob your right. Also, the Gold insert isn't for sound adjustment, just for some bling. This was taken from the HKS web site:

Additional triple-fin inserts are available in gold (standard high frequency sound) for visual appeal and in purple metallic (emits a lower frequency)

I have tried the mopar rice party favor, the RFL and the HKS SSQV. The first two were garbage above 17 psi. The HKS is the only BOV that works the way it should. NOT LEAKING! I bought all of the inserts to test them out. The purple one is a middle range sound, but it's subtle. The gold one is more of a mix between stock high pitch and the greddy sound. To me, mine sounds like a mix between the greddy s and the HKS SSQV stock bov insert. Some people also have tried no insert. I never tried that, but I prefer the gold or stock silver insert over the quiet purple one. The HKS doesn't leak under any boost, where the RFL would leak t around 10-14 psiat mid to 3/4 throttle all of the time. I got tired of check engine lights from it. I am totally happy with my perrin UPP and HKS SQV bov. Take my advice, get the HKS.

I have the HKS SSQV with the purple insert and love the way it sounds but is there a way to open it more. Like on the Greddy's you can open it more and close it more. Just wondering.

Cool just a thought, still love the sound for now though.

And for the price that I got the whole setup for it can't be beat. Lets just say got it under $200.00 USD that is the pipe, flange, hoses, t valve, everything needed for install. I am sure I will loose interest in the sound in a while.

mine came in the mail yesterday with the purple ( i guess, there is a purple ring inside of it) i hope it sounds like this one and not like the first vid (no offence but it sounded....well "not so great" i did buy it for the performance and reputation but i also want it to sound good

How's the greddy type s perform under pressure. With higher boosts does it leak?

No, you do NOT have the purple insert, lol...

That is just the color of the ring in there! That comes on all of them like that. Luke (quiXilver), doesn't have an insert. He is using the stock "silver insert"...
