Default what doesn't the MS control?

Using the megasquirt as an EMS replacement, I'm curious on what the EMS controls that the Megasquirt doesn't. Per my other thread, I know that the voltage regulator for the alternator is not included in the MS setup, but what else will I need to look at besides that? Any other components/systems need to be taken care of seperate from the MS?

SRT? If so, you'll need to use non-OEM guages. I'm not sure about MS compatability with the SRT idle controller, but have typically adjusted my idle speeds using throttle stops. I'm not sure how much load the A/C or PS will put on the car at idle when in use...you may note a significant drop in idle when either system is in use when not using the factory idle control.
Obviously you won't have any OBD functions, and various pollution control devices (EGR..does the SRT even have it?, charcoal canister crud, etc) won't be in use.

Hey Nathan -

Thanks for the info. I'm actually running the 420a on an Eclipse - enough similarities though that the information from this forum has been great.
I believe that I can use stock guages still - I have the tach output installed on the MS, the speedo of course comes from the tranny and for coolant/air temp I have the proper sensors to go along with the MS. There is an issue w/fuel though as I am running a 16G fuel cell and am not sure if the GM sending unit I have is compatible.

I took out the AC for weight savings, and the PS hopefully won't put on too much drain. For the IAC, I have to convert to a 2-wire Ford style...which shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

I'm not too worried about the EGR - I would never pass emissions anyway. I'm still working on a solution to that (my state is strict with emissions!).

So it looks like the MS will do most of the work, and I have solutions for the things that it doesn't do. I just wanted to make sure that there is nothing left out when I crank the car for the first time.

The voltage regulator for the alternator is going to be a bitch to find though

The only thing you can't control is the alternator. You need an external regulator from an 80's turbo dodge omni. They are only $15 from autozone. See this document for instructions on how to control the alternator and gauges without the stock ecu (look on page 15). It's specific to the electromotive TEC-2 ecu, but the concept is the same for the megasquirt.
