I am currently working on my timing map, looking to decrease EGTs in the cruise range and increase gas mileage somewhat, and from what I have read, my timing for cruise seems to be way too conservative for best efficiency, heres my map, I'm looking to compare it to other people's and/or to get some advice on making it more efficient
obviously I have work to do on this map, for one, I'm bringing the redline down to 7000rpm, I need to raise the timing out of boost, and maybe a small amount in boost too
well, the SRT map made a HUGE difference as far as smoothness goes, its now a lot more driveable than it was, though it still doesnt seem to have any more power oddly enough(it had plenty to begin with though so thats neither here nor there)
my new map, cant tell if its safe in boost yet(larger turbo so I pulled 5 degrees from everything in boost) but out of boost its fine

can you actually post that vex so i dont have to put all those numbers in
Good deal I will have to adjust my driving spark with what is posted here. I got my egt's going from 1700 at 70mph cruising down to just under 1500.....
Anyone know what the egt's are suppose to be while cruising? Like whats a safe range?

from experience on my 50 trim I used more boost, but toned down the timing. I ran in the lower to mid 20's timing wise when I had the 50 trim under boost. Now that I have a bigger turbo it will be different so I have to start over. Also I dunno, but I dont think going above 40 degrees of timing is a good idea for part throttle? Between 1700 and 2300 rpm it will reference those cells with timing over 40. I guess if thats what the car runs on stock pcm it should be ok, but man thats alot of timing....makes me worry ya know. Not sure how much boost you plan to run, but will have to change the kpa values over on the left to reflect more boost. Thats where it starts making it a pain....well for me at least to adjust since now your cell range has been shrunk and is used more.
Well I will change my stuff tomorrow. Thanks peeps!
this was mainly an out of boost map for me, but I have to say that part throttle driveability(up to 5psi) is excellent, and I have 9:1 compression and use a 20g turbo, I have my whole map so low in boost right now though because I have a few things I need to do before turning up the boost, mainly some I/C piping work(since mine is custom) and getting a boost controller of some type, probably a MBC to start with, then a solenoid I can wire into MS

k kewl thats what I am going to use it for....the stuff from 5psi and below for drive ability and mpg. From then on everything will be totally different. Have an idea of what a good driving egt is?
with this map, at cruise my EGTs are between 1000 and 1150, under slight boost it goes to about 1250...much better than my previous 12-1300 cruise and 1400+ in boost
